Those are nice sennheisers. Happy with them?

If you are out of warranty (they obviously broke at a QC defect point) then you may be out of luck. I am not aware of parts being available for the refurbishment of these products.

To fix it yourself, if you are handy with tools at all, you could get a thin strip of a pliable metal (the kind I see at my day job is used by ductwork installers) and fastening it to each 'half' across the top with glue and claps or with 4 or 6 tiny screws (that terminate into the headband padding). This is a 'low profile' fix that looks much better than a whole bunch of tape.

You might have another option if you bought them with a credit card: my visa covers anything I buy with a 'break-it-or-lose-it' replacement warranty on all consumer electronics for the life of the warranty of 1 or 2 years, I forget. This is a common benefit of many VISA cards, that just about everybody doesn't have a clue about. You may find it in the tiny print of your CC agreement, or just call VISA and ask them.

I hope those options help.

Sony MDR-RF4000K wireless headphones

Probably a bit late for the original poster, but just in case anyone else comes across this....

I also have the Sony MDR-RF4000K wireless headphones and the problem with the sound cutting out has got steadily worse over time, to the point where I felt like throwing them away. I replaced the batteries (use normal rechargeable AAs with a bit of card to trip the little switch that would normally be tripped by the Sony battery pack), however that had no effect on the problem.

After a little research I have established that the power on the headphones themselves is triggered by a pull switch in the right ear cup. When you put the headphones on, the padded headband is stretched and pulls the switch up, turning the headphones on. The headphones have always been a little big on me, and I can imagine that the headband has stretched permanently in the last few years, probably leading to the switch on being more marginal.

At any rate, although I don't have a fix, I now know that if the sound cuts out, I don't need to take the headphones off - just pull the headband up slightly on the right-hand side, or push the headphones as a whole down a bit, again on the right-hand side.

Broken headband

You can try to strip a little bit of the jacket off the wires and twist them together securely. Then use a little bit of electrical tape to wrap the bare wire. After, you can tape the head piece back together...... or you could buy some new headphones.

All of a sudden sound is not coming in one of the channels (right). On pressing the headphone's band a bit sound comes on and goes off.

The cable connects to one headphone and then through the headband to the other side.

I sounds like the cable connecting them that runs through the headband has been damaged.

The only solution is the try and remove the cover from the headband and repair the cable.

Please leave feedback

I have Sennheiser HD 570 headphones. The plastic headband is broken where it attaches to the headphone. Can I order a new plastic headband and is difficult to replace?

That part isn't available from Sennheiser. But they are pretty maintainable, if you're good with mechanical things, and if you can come up with another set of the same headphones for parts.
If you've already replaced your headphones and want to rid yourself of the broken 570's, I'm looking for a set to scrounge for parts.

Need instructions for replacement of headband and ear cushions.

It should be easy - I just eased mine out by pulling on the top and bottom parts of the headphone cushion/pad.

Hope that helps
