Is it completly dead or it turn on but no display ?
if it is completly dead, it could be the motherboard.
but if it turn on and no display. try to reseated memory first.
if you have 2 memory, try to use only 1 memory. used it in every slot to test the memoy slot.
if it is still no display, your motheboard need to be repair.

You may have already done this, but remember many laptops require that you remove the battery for about 30 sec. as well as disconnect the AC power to reset them. Always try this when everything appears completely dead.
Remove the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord from your Sony Vaio laptop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the laptop.
This clears your RAM and is like a hardware reset.
Replace the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord
and turn your laptop on.
If that does't work try removing ram and reinstall. Sometime this works with these laptops.

but have you charged the battery or plugged the power cord into plug and switched on to try to charge the battery for a couple of hrs without using the laptop
I have a new gateway laptop with windows 7 and today it said plugged in not charging 8%. I tried everything and nothing worked so I turned it off and unplugged it and took the battery out and put it back in and it started charging...hopefully this works.

Try removing batt and use ac adapter alone. Check if laptop works fine also check if LED flickers still.
