Re: Won't Power up
Is it completly dead or it turn on but no display ?
if it is completly dead, it could be the motherboard.
but if it turn on and no display. try to reseated memory first.
if you have 2 memory, try to use only 1 memory. used it in every slot to test the memoy slot.
if it is still no display, your motheboard need to be repair.

Has the laptop been damaged? Dropped? Same on battery? Remove battery, try AC only. Try another cord/charger with the EXACT same power specs. Reseat Memory mods. Test the DC volt output, at the laptop plug in, with a multimeter. Power issues are difficult to diagnose long distance.
You may have already done this, but remember many laptops require that you remove the battery for about 30 sec. as well as disconnect the AC power to reset them. Always try this when everything appears completely dead.
The power receptors next to the battery sound like toast. Try running the computer off of just the charger (correct one) with no battery. If this works, you need a new battery. If this doesn't work, your computer needs a new power supply. Hope this helps =]
I have a new gateway laptop with windows 7 and today it said plugged in not charging 8%. I tried everything and nothing worked so I turned it off and unplugged it and took the battery out and put it back in and it started charging...hopefully this works.
