Dear Mrice001

Righteo, the first ting you should avoid doing in this situation, is what millions of people would do when they eithe have little or no TV signal, what they do is to rush out and buy a signal booster. Now this is very wrong, as the signal is not improved as such. Any distortion or "noise" is also amplified with a booster, so this is a futile effort. What you are probably best off doing, if you have a digital aerial is (if you are going to add a booster) is to attach the thing as close to the aerial antenna as possible (up to about 500mm from the aerial base where the coax cable joins the mast).

Now if your TV is still not working, then i reckon that you should investigate the box that both your TV sets are connected to. This includes all of the cabling too. It might be well worth checking that both of your TV sets have SCART connections to the cable box, and that there are enough channels to both TVs from the box, (ideally there should be two or three SCART connections on the box) if not, then you can use a SCART adapter, but you may loose picture quality on one of the TV's.

Once you have set all the wiring and cabling in plce, it is time to pair the TV to the signal that you want to recieve. Now your user manual will tell you on how to scan and save the channels to your TV set, or for freeview, sky, NTL and cable, then all you need to do is ensure that your TV is tuned into the box (in your case it will be the cable box). Now setting this to the AV1 channel will be best (just as long as you have good SCART) or you can run your TV's tuning setting through the coaxial 75ohm cable in order to pickup the signal that way. SCART is prefffered though as it gives better picture ratio, quality and is faster to tune.

Now, should all of this not work, then i recommend getting hold of your manufacturers/ vendored model of device.now i you hit up http://www.google.co.uk
http://www.google.com

and type in your device builder ollowed by the words "manual, user guide or technical specifications" then you should return a whole bunch of eye candyishresults or you to read and understand.

Should you still have a problem, then you can always get hold of me here and I will be more than glad to help.

In the meantime, i hope that this is the fixya for you.

All regards, and best o luck on this one

yours sincerely

Digital channels are not working

If your TV is connected to a "cable" box, e.g. you're using cable TV ... then it is the cable TV box that determines what you can get (based on your cable subscription). Yes, I know that some cable TV and satellite TV service providers will only deliver HD digital channels when you pay an additional (monthly) fee for HD digital channels.
If you plug the cable directly into your TV (i.e. not use the cable box), you may be able to do a channel scan on your TV, to pick up the digital channels ... but you will loose the convenience of using the features that your cable box provides .

Can a magnavox smart Tv surf the web?

Philips Magnavox has designed televisions offering a number of different features and options that provide users optimal viewing experience and facilitate ease of use.
One such feature found in certain models is known as Smart Surf.
Smart Surf

The Smart Surf feature allows the user to store previously viewed channels as a series of select favorites, and to surf between those channels by repeatedly pressing the "Surf" button on the television's remote control.
The user can also delete the channels stored in this group and add different ones at a later time.
Stored Channels, TVs
The maximum number of channels that can be saved in the Smart Surf feature varies by model. Some (including the 13MT143S and 20MS233S) allow five, some (TS2554C) allow eight, and some (MX2797B) up to 10.
This feature is found mainly on older CRT TVs, as the the channel search and selection options in LCD TVs and/or their connected digital cable/satellite set-top receiver boxes have made it unnecessary.
Usage
Select a channel, either by using the "CH+" or "CH-" buttons or entering the channel's number. Press "Surf" while the channel number is displayed and press the right arrow button to add that channel. Press "Surf" repeatedly to scan through the saved channels.
To remove a channel, press "Surf" and the right arrow key again while the channel number is displayed.

Surf the Web on Your TV
As the technology that brings us the Internet merges more and more with the technology that brings us traditional television content, we will find ourselves watching TV shows on the computer and watching Internet content on our TV sets.
There are several ways to get Internet on your TV, though most may not be as satisfying as actually using your computer to surf the Web.
Connect TV to Laptop as Second Monitor
Connect your TV and your laptop computer using an S-video cable.
Connect the audio using a component audio cable with red and white connectors.
If your laptop doesn't have component audio, use an adapter that transfers the signal from both cables into one connector, which will plug into the headphone jack on your laptop.

Choose the input mode on the TV that corresponds to the type of connection you are using. Press the monitor button on your laptop.
This is probably a combination of the shift key and one of the function keys.

Tweak the monitor connections under "Display Settings" if necessary.
Choose a low resolution for the TV, which should show up as a second monitor. Select "Advanced Options" in the Display Settings box and choose "generic TV" as the monitor type.

You should now have the option to see items on your TV.
The TV will either have the same icons on both the laptop screen and the TV, or you can choose "extend the desktop onto this monitor" in Display Settings, and then drag items to the TV from the laptop screen.
You will be able to see the Internet and control things using the controls on the laptop.

TV with Internet Capability

Connect your TV to the Internet according to the TV manufacturer's instructions.
TVs with this type of port include Panasonic VIERA, Sharp LC series and Panasonic TC-PS1 series.

Navigate the menu using the TV remote and following any instructions in the TV manual relating to using the Internet.
Select the desired content and watch it.

Be aware that this type of TV may only show Internet content provided by websites and companies that have partnered with the TV manufacturer for inclusion.

Internet-enabled Game Console

Connect the game console to the TV and ensure there is a wireless Internet connection available. Alternatively, connect an Ethernet cable directly to the game console.

Using the game controller, choose the Internet channel. You can surf using a menu or enter a website URL with a virtual keyboard, or you can attach a USB keyboard to the game console.

Results may vary and this will not be as satisfying as surfing the Internet using a computer, but some websites will work well and all should be accessible.

Set-top Box

Connect a set-top box, such as a Roku, Sony Bravia, or NetGear ITV2000 to your TV.

Make sure a high-speed Internet connection is available.
This may be accessed wirelessly or through an Ethernet cable connected to the set-top box.

Select from the menu to choose content. Be aware that this option, like the Internet TV option, may limit you to content from providers that partner with the box manufacturers, and that you may not be able to use the entire Internet.

Dvd/vcr recorder magnavox model mwr20v6, i got probelm hooking up my dvd/vcr recorder to my cable converterbox an tv , because i broke the antenne/ out socket on the back of the unit, how can i get it to...

Hi,If I understood correctly you broke antenna out socket of Cable box..ok no problem, your TV and cable box should have other jacs/socket for this connection as well..
Take the A/V output of your cable box into TV possibly with RCA cables..than you can select the channel thru Cable box on TV ..(AV mode needs to be selected on TV )

** in order to listen and watch your
magnavox DVD 's "2xRCA audio" and "1x RCA Video" cables "OUT" should go to Tv or Cable box "IN" connections separately ..("IN" goes to "OUT" of other ..pls remember,Always reverse connected ) (audio will come thru Receiver and TV.)

Since you successfully connected your Receiver to play video on TV (one way only ) ,here is the second reverse action if you wish to listen or RECORD a program on your TV on
magnavox
** you need to connect "Audio Output " as can either be : RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" or "SCART "connector " of your TV or Cable box .( every TV -cable box has different type of Audio out jacks )
** to "iRCA nput or "Optic Cable input"
of your
magnavox (whichever you want ,based on the necessary cables on your hand )

There you go..Tv/Cable box video and sound are both on the
magnavox for recording..

Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know.

I have a magnavox sdtv tuner can I hook cable line that still has cable come threw the box

Yes. You may enter through the RF connections. Be sure your TV is on channel three or sometimes channel four. You must be in the same channel on the cable box. You will receive all channels the box is capable of receiving. If your TV has RCA connections in the back and the cable box also has RCA jacks...you can opt for an input in the TV. Inputs can generally give you a better picture and sound. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support.

I HAVE A MAGNAVOX TV MODEL 255102-OODD, A MOTOROLLA (VERIZON) SET TOP BOX MODEL QIP2400/1006 AND A JVC DVD MODEL DR-MV150BJ. I HAVE TRIED ALL THE HOOK-UPS SUGGESTED BY JVC AND STILL CONNOT GET A PICTURE. ...

ok, The issue will be in the sequence you have things connected. The connections sequence is going to be controlled by what connections are available. I assume the Set Top controller is connection to your Antennea connection on the TV. Your TV should be on channel 3 or 4. The next step depends on what type of connectors you are using for the JVC DVD. I have an Antennea output on mine so I connected them in series. If you don't have an Antennea output from teh DVD player you will need to connect the DVD using Audio/Video cables which means you will need to connect to the TV alternate Source connector and to watch DVD's you will need to change to that source. Much like you would switch between regular TV and VCR tape on a VCR player connected to the Antennea connector.

Would like to record from my tv to my magnavox dvd/vcr combo box

If I understand your request right, You do not have cable or satellite box.
You can not record from your TV. You use the TV as a monitor from the dvd/vcr combo box. What the box receives is what shows on the TV. So you will have to have a digital convertor hooked to the (antenna in) dvd/vcr combo box, (antenna out to the tv antenna in) Depending on the antenna you are using that is on the other end of your cable-in coax connection this will hook to your antenna in on the digital convertor box. If your cable is hooked up and operating correctly and directly to the tv that is digital ready you probabbly have a good picture. When the vhf/uhf signal was transmitted you could go from the dvd/vcr to the tv with no problem. But now that the signal is digital and the tv is set for digital the dvd/vcr will not pass a digital signal to the tv. Best suggestion, you have to get a digital dvd/vcr receiver. If you have more question please contact me.

Magnavox DV220mw9 won't record from Tv, hard to connect

check out this diagram, paying close attention to the audio video cable hookups.

assume the cable tv box represents the converter box

you are going to come out of the converter box audio and video outputs into the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo audio and video inputs.

Then out of the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo outputs to the inputs on the tv if it has such inputs. The TV will have to operate on the video input 1 or 2 if the tv has such a thing, use the remote for the tv to adjust the input signal to line in 1 or 2 depending on what it has.

If the tv has no coaxial input or audio video inputs then you might have to use an adapter, you can get these from radio shack.

You say it will not record from the tv, but in all actuality the dvd vcr combo is getting the signal from the converter box not the tv, do you understand what I mean here?

So the dvd vcr combo gets input from the converter box so you will have to set it to view signal from the line input you have plugged in from the converter box. line 1 or 2 or whatever the input is.

the tv will have to be set on the line input to view the signal from the dvd vcr combo.

That is as easy as I can put it. Study the diagram closely. You will see what I mean.

DVD input with signal access

IF I understand you correctly, the VCR, Satellite, etc is connected using an RF modulator/coaxial cable wire going into Antenna in

IF this is true, then you have an AV IN port (red, yellow, white) free on the back. Just connect the red, yellow, white from the out of the DVD - you can use 1 or 2 - just remember which one you used; and connect it to the AV IN on the back of the TV.

THEN press ch down on the TV remote until you get to "AV1" - it is below channel 2; double check DVD player to make DVD is playing and voila!
