I believe that this particular model does not have an A/V input. The A/V jack on the camcorder is output only. This link will provide all of the specs on this camcorder.

Hope this has helped you in some way.

The Manual shows that the AV jack can also be used as an input, not just an output. There is some sort of convoluted IR Setup **** that only some VCR's have. The instructions for dubbing begin on page 101 of this camcorders manual.http://www.docs.sony.com/release/DCRTRV2... So frustrating for such a simple task.

This is my 3rd camcorder that I have bought that has failed to deliver what I need, but enough of my rant. If anyone knows how to make this thing record from DVD players and VHS players please let me know.

From the user manual, I still gather that you cannot do this with your camcorder. In the section that you are speaking of (page 101) and on, it refers to the setup being on page 94 or page 96. That hookup diagram shows the A/V cables being plugged into the "IN" jacks on the VCR not the "OUT". This would mean that you are dubbing from the camcorder to the VCR. The only other possible way to try this is if your VCR has a DV jack that is IN/OUT. Some DV jacks on camcorders work as input and output. Sorry for all the problems that you are having.

Can't get tape out. Stopped recording in middle of school play and I was unable to remove tape.

Sounds like the tape misfed during the recording and wrapped itself around the fly head and recordinghead. This happens sometimes when the internal workings of the recorder get dirty. The hard part is getting the tape out without damaging the unit. Your going to have to bring the recorder to a repair shop or crack it open yourself and from the opposite side try unwind the tape.

Your DCR-TRV250 uses a Digital 8 system to record and playback information on its cassette whereas the older Analog 8mm machines used the analog system. Unfortunately the two are incompatible.

The no tape and eject symbols are flashing at the same time.

Those signs means Record tab on tape is ON, eject tape and check record tab and make sure to set it on Record position.

My camera function is not working

It could be that the tape heads are dirty. You should try cleaning them with a 8mm tape cleaner. Radio Shack carries them.
