Laptop screen goes on & off when open the display

Hardware wise, this could be any number of things.

The laptop screen is connected to the mainboard of the laptop usually by a thin ribbon cable in the hinge, or a series or contact points. As a laptop ages, these can deteriorate and start acting up, as the signal is interrupted. Thus, potentially causing flashing, flickering, erratic coloration of the screen, etc.

It could also be a defective sensor, the part that detects whether the screen is open or closed.

There is a chance this could be software related. Try making sure all drivers are up to date. Scan your PC with an up to date Anti-Virus program.

Hope this helps.

Why does my screen keep flickering?

Try changing the refresh rate, you could be getting flickering from your lights if the refresh rate is close to 50Hz.

Hope this helps! :D

My screen on my laptop flickers sometimes so bad you can't use it and my cursor goes crazy and i have to shut down for a while . When it flicker it kind of acts when a cell phone or something is too close...

Hello...
I had the same problem before (actually, twice) and it was the LCD - 'twas broken. So I returned it to the company and they replaced it (twice). Thanks that it was still covered by its warranty, I didn't pay even a single cent. You really can't use it well if the screen flickers but if you can not return it right now (hope it's covered by warranty), you just adjust the light of the screen by pressing FN and F9 (for light). That way, you can use it but expect that it will turn white afterwards and so you can't see the cursor again. It's only your broken LCD that needs to be replaced. Hope this helps... If you've got more questions, just feel free to ask more questions here, thanks! tc :)

Flickering Screen on Model P105 Toshiba Satellite

on the back of the LCD is a cable that goes from there to the Motherboard. Try reseating that cable on both ends. If that doesn't fix it then it has to be a problem with either the screen or the cable behind the screen.

Screen flicker

It is a connection problem. THe cable that connects to the LCD and mainboard is busted.YOu need to take it apart and try to rreposistion the cable or buy a new cable off ebay. the Inverter is fine. You might also notice the sound isn't working that much.

Compaq presario v2000 monitor is having horizontal purple lines that flicker.

Try reloading the drivers, delete the device in device manager and reboot. It should then pick up the drivers and reload them, if that does not work I would suspect the screen is on its way out (flickering normally means the screen or its connection is bad)

Flickering Picture?

Your set might have a high voltage leak and that is the noise you hear when is showing the screen problem or even maybe an arking too ,either one is related to the high voltage and it can be dangerous,if you are familiar with tv service you can try to see where is arking and replace the part with an exact replacement but if the set has a leak you will not see it and is not safe to be close to it,if you are not too familiar be safe and call for assistance from a servicer.
