SOURCE: Generator output

Hi, You don't say whether this is under load or not but if not is within the acceptable range, which is +/- 10% . Generally speaking, voltage on a generator is not the issue but the load which it will carry, hence their wattage ratings. Measure your household voltage and you will see that it varies from day to day but usually stays within the limits and your electrical panel is rated in amperage. Hope this answers your question!

SOURCE: Honda ems 4000 generator starts and runs great, but no power

At the controller, you need to see if it is actually sending electricity out of the Generator/Alternator, have a look where the leads from the power making unit mates, (Think of it as a motor in reverse) onto the board. There should be an AC Voltage there, then, work back, or out from there, trace the Voltage until it stops, thats the problem... Check the Breaker isn't tripped or faulty too.

SOURCE: black max 7kw generator high voltage output

Those voltage readings MAY be normal.

The AC waveform may cause your meter to read inaccurately. You would need to use a TRUE RMS meter to accurately read the voltage.

The siple meters actually read the AVERAGE voltage and then are calibrated to mulltiply it by the "form factor" for a sine wave. OFTEN these generators don't produce a clean sine wave. A square-ish wave will read higher on the garden variety meters.

Compare the brightness of a lamp comparing to when run on your utility.

The frequency depends on engine speed ... yours is running a bit fast...check it under at least half load and if off, adjust the govenor slightly.

Why would my generator engine runs great but it will not power any of my tools. what could be the problem?

With no load on the generator, take a voltage reading at the output plug of the generator, if there is no voltage, check to make sure that no breakers are tripped or fuses blown.

I have a miller trailblazer 301g. It worked fine yesterday and now only the 120/240 volt outlets will work. No weld output and also the idle will not kick down. when I opened the unit the only visable...

Hi:

Probably your machines just overloaded; the engine will run and produce voltage but no weld output.
Check your fuses F1 and F2, if they are open replace them.
Both fuses are located at left hand side of machine, open it and you will find them on the bracket.

Good Luck.

Mitsubishi MGE 6700 generator. Starts and runs fine, but no longer putting out power. What would it cost to repair this issue?

These generators have a GFI outlet on them, and they do fail. I would suggest you check all output circuits and see if you have any output. If so, pull the GFI and see if it is getting power to the outlet. If so, replace the outlet.

Generator starts but does not generate power

  1. Check for any blown fuse and replace. It can be traced directly from the output lines.
  2. Check field excitation. The field excitation is supplied by the battery to the excitation coil through a pair of carbon brushes. If the brushes are worn out, no excitation field is supplied and no output is generated. Replace carbon brush if found worn-out.
  3. Use an analog multitester to check the continuity of the carbon brush and the field coil.
