Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hi, I have a new HTC Wildfire phone and I need to sync it with my PC. My problem is that I am running Windows XP 64 as my operating system and it seems their are compatibility issues. The errors I'm encountering upon installation are specifically "Media Format 11 Runtime Installation failed" and HTC Driver Installer 2.0.7.018 Installation failed. Short of changing my OS, is there any way around this issue. Will be eternally grateful, should you have a solution. I'm being driven mad. Thanks.

SOURCE: Unable to start in Safe Mode with Command Prompt in XP Media Center 2005

Hi there. My name is Alex and I am here to help solve this problem

Depending if the BIOS has legacy USB support for keyboard and mouse enabled, you should be able to run safe mode by pressing F8 before the computer boots into windows. I would not recommend going into the BIOS if you do not have much knowledge to the computer as one wrong configuration could cause some behaviour problems or even damage to the pc's components

I recommend connecting a keyboard and mouse that have cable and the PS/2 connectors (purple and green) which can be found at back of the computer at the top. Then restart your computer, hold down F8 and you will be able to run safe mode. The mouse and keyboard will then work

Keep both the keyboard and mouse plugged in and boot windows. When you get into windows, plug in the USB keyboard and mouse into a USB slot and wait whilst it detects it. After a couple of minutes you should be able to use your USB mouse and keyboard and take out the PS/2 keyboard and mouse

I hope this has helped. Please let me know if you have any questions or need further assistance.

Cant down load the usb driver

Hi,

you need active sync or windows mobile device center, no other drivers needed.

If you are using windows xp download Active sync, if you are using Vista or newer then look in your start menu, all programs and find Mobile device center. if its not there then get it from http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=14
