Hello,
Access to the router using web interface and make sure that access point is enabled. You can reset it to factory settings by using a ballpoint or paperclip to gently push down the reset button in the following

sequence:

1. Press and hold the reset button while the device is powered off.

2. Turn on the power.
3. Wait for 5~7 seconds and then release the reset button.

You can use Router Commander for troubleshooting router problem also

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

THE WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY SIGNAL STRENGTH IS VERY POOR

I don't know the make of the wireless access point that you are using. First I would unplug the wireless access point, unplug the computer, remove battery, plug in the wireless access point, it will do a self test, when it completes plug in the laptop. You may have interference in your area? Is your wireless access point secured with a passcode? You can also change channels from defaults. I am not sure why you would reformat a machine due to wireless connectivity? You could re-set the wireless access point to defaults by pressing and holding for 30 seconds the reset will return the device to defaults, of course you would have to reconfigure the SSID and security core.

Incredibly slow wireless connection when DSL connection is fine.

anytime you transmit wireless and connect wireless you loose speed. a lot of routers have a buffer in them to regain the transmision speeds. the antennae needs to be at a 45 degree angle as well for best transmission and tight. there maybe static in the lines called ingress. a bad connector or a radio shack splitter will kill off hsi. make sure your splitter is over 1000 mhz. the 900mhz are garbage. your netgear may also be the problem, and may be subject to warranty replacement.. it is very common. i install netgear wireless daily and i have seen brand new out of the box fail. also like my wife, she forgets to remove the torrent files from the vuze downloader and ends up seeding 20 albums which slows us down bigtime.

you can try to reset the router and reconfigure it again but if it's still giving you the same problem, check if the router is using the latest firmware, if not, then upgrade the firmware

hope this'll help you.

ciao!

If your ISP is not having problems typically a router will just need a reboot to make it start working again. Simply unplug the power cord to it, wait 10-15 seconds, plug back in and try it again.
