Question about Car Audio & Video

I keep getting ERROR 19 when I try hooking up my iPhone 3GS to Pioneer DEH-3200UB car stereo. Followed instructions in manual without any luck. Tried looking at Pioneer webite for an explanation and a solution ... again no luck. Stereo manual states that model is compatible with iPhone 3GS (software version 3.0) ... version on my iPhone is currently 4.0.2

That's what the manual stated which I did with no luck. In addition, I used several usb wires, including the one that came with iPhone ... again no success.

I keep getting ERROR 19 when I try hooking up my iPhone 3GS to Pioneer DEH-3200UB car stereo. The display on stereo reads ... "FORMAT READ" and after 30 seconds or so, ERROR 19 is displayed. When the iTunes APP is running and cable is connected to stereo, iPhone screen displays "Accessory Connected". Followed instructions in manual (which stated to remove usb cable and re-connect) without any luck. I tried using several different usb cables I use to charge my iPhone. Tried looking at Pioneer webite for an explanation and a solution ... again no luck. Stereo manual states that model is compatible with iPhone 3GS (software version 3.0) ... version on my iPhone is currently 4.0.2.

Thank you for leading me to the Apple- discussions website.

Here's the solution (at least it worked for me): do a hard reset of iPhone (holding down top button and bottom button at same time, continue holding until display shows the APPLE emblem. Ignore the sliding bar to turn off phone. Allow iPhone to reboot and whalla!

I'm not that tech savy so I probably would have found my way to Apple-discussions in about 2 months. Using FixYa was worth the effort.

    Thank you again.

Yes. Although I wasn't provided a direct solution, his (tbreeze47) advice pointed me in the right direction and with some research ... I found a solution.

Not sure if there is a fix for this or not, after I read the following blog about error 19:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2542481&tstart=0
It looks like the 4.0.2 version of the software may be the problem.
You might try contacting iPhone support- here is their support site:
http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/
Good luck, hope this helps, and thanks for using FixYa.

The "Error 19" issue seems to have cropped up with upgrades to iOS 4.0x. This problem seems to have been resolved with the iOS 4.1 update.

ERROR-19
Cause:Communication failure or iPhone failure
solution:
Disconnect the cable from IPhone.
Once IPhone main
menu IS displayed,
reconnect cable.
Reset the iphone.
or
Simpy Open the iPod app on the phone and plug in two or three times and it would come up if that doesn't work try with the wire that comes with iPhone and set it control to iPod and see if it works.

Did you recently update your iPhone 3GS firmware to iOS 4.x ? There is a signficant number of people with this problem after the firmware update. Here are two possible solutions that have worked for some people.

1) Turn off your iPhone (hold the power switch down, then swipie off). Turn the deck on to your USB1 or USB2 (whatever you are using). Now plug the iPhone into the deck. This should turn the iPhone on, and "reset" the connection to the USB.

2) Turn the deck on and switch to the proper USB source. Connect the iPhone to the deck, then initiate a "hard reset" of the iPhone (hold the power

Different cords

You will need to go to locate auto parts store and buy the adapter which will allow you to fit the stereo without any wiring modifications.

How to set the time

Hi, I have a Pioneer DEH-2950MP and manual had wrong instructions for setting clock. Took me hours, but instead of "Function" as manual stated or as someone suggested "Audio", found that "Source" button held in with stereo in off mode brought up flashing clock to enable resetting. Try that. Good luck !
