Have iPod Touch. Not sure which of the two switches you are referring. The bottom circle bottom and the top on/off bottom are the only two that are functioning. I have held these two down simultaneously on several occasions until the apple logo appears (or just before it) and even once that caused a full restore to occur. Still no luck.

    Thanks for any help!

Also, lock icon is ON at top middle of screen. Not sure if or where a reset button (hidden or otherwise) is located.

It initially reacts to almost any slide action but at the same point moving left to right at about 1/4" it acts as if it has hit a wall and will not proceed to unlock. Very strange.

Three attempts at luck. Same issue.

  • 1 Slide to unlock does not - reset-apple-ipod-classic-1.1-120x120.jpg Toggle the [Hold] switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  • 2 Now press and hold the [Menu] and [Select] buttons until the Apple logo appears, which may take about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
  • 3 If the task seem a bit tedious, set the Ipod on a flat surface. ensure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the [click wheel]. Also ensure that you are pressing the [Menu] button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.

  • this is supposed to reset it ..
also check the hold not be on locked position ...
If it has a reset button press it and reset it from there ..
Pay attention cause it might have a hidden reset button ..looks like a hole in which you are supposed to enter something sharp and press in order to reset it ..
if nothng works and it have a removable battery remove it a few seconds and power it back ..

than it may be a issue of a screen calibration ...and in this case you have to try and slide to unlock somewhere near by ..and not in the line that it should..
make several trials to slide mm by mm near by ..if it is the bottom line you have to slide..try a little higher..until it works ..
after that look in the settings menu ..and locate screen calibration ..and fix it ..Its simple .all you have to do is to touch a screen point during it let it know the exact positions ..
But get in have to take it by mm to hit the right spot where it reacts to slide action ..

try to reset again but this way follow this ..
hold down the top button on the left (the one that locks it) and the
home button (the circle button with the square in the middle) and keep
holding it down until it goes blank and the apple comes up.

if it do not want to reset Im thinking that must be a issue with it physically and I suggest to have it fix on a professional environment ...if you think is worth the price ..or if it is in warranty better ..cause it do not seam to be something fix-able by settings ..If it was that the resetting should fix it ...either you are not managing to do it right ..or the Ipod is gone ..(at least the display commands..)
It can be though just virusated,,,and a firmware update will fix it this is why I suggest to take it to a repair shop ..cause there is nothing I can advise from the distance an work ..

Won't let me slide to unlock my itouch

Allow the iPods battery to completely die and then fully recharge it. If it wont unlock then your displays touch sensitivity is not working and you may need to replace the display or it may be cheaper just to replace the iPod Touch
