Question about Pioneer Car Audio & Video
Did you recently update your iPhone 3GS firmware to iOS 4.x ? There is a signficant number of people with this problem after the firmware update. Here are two possible solutions that have worked for some people.
1) Turn off your iPhone (hold the power switch down, then swipie off). Turn the deck on to your USB1 or USB2 (whatever you are using). Now plug the iPhone into the deck. This should turn the iPhone on, and "reset" the connection to the USB.
2) Turn the deck on and switch to the proper USB source. Connect the iPhone to the deck, then initiate a "hard reset" of the iPhone (hold the power

Allow me to tell you how much I hate this problem and what I've learned along the way. And, this is entirely PIONEER'S problem, and I can prove it. I've owned the Pioneer deck for 3 years. I've encountered this issue intermittently from day 1, with numerous versions of iPods and iPhones, AND USB Thumb Drives. I've tried every combination of turning the car on and off; turning the device on and off, resetting the device, etc. It comes down to this: when my deck doesn't want to play a USB connected device, it just isn't going to do it. Period. I'll go 6 months without having the issue, and will suddenly have it again for 2 weeks. I am currently in one of the "I don't want to" phases. I have been exploring the idea that it is temperature related, as there seems to be a band of temps when it just doesn't work. When the deck decides not to work, I can unplug my iPhone and plug in a USB Thumb Drive with MP3's loaded. It will fail to read. If the deck chooses to read, I can use the USB drive with no problems. Therefore, this isn't an Apple issue, it is a Pioneer issue and we are all hosed for a solution. I want to see a recall! I've had Pioneer decks for 30 years. Never again.
