My Thomson TV was working fine and then a friend played with the remote and ever since, it has been stuck with a squashed viewing area. The viewable area of the screen is reduced at the top by about 2cm and about 5cm on the bottom, squashing the image, and there are 3 thin lines, red green and blue, running across the top. When widescreen movies are played on it, it just squashes them even more. I've tried all sorts of button combos to fix it but nothing works. I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks!
Matt
Thank You Matt, This is not an enhanced set. So your friend couldn`t have changed the aspect ratio.
That unfortunately leaves you with a problem in the vertical circuits of the chassis .There is a capacitor going bad. I recommend you take it to your repair shop. First ask for an estimate before you decide you want to repair it. There are no expensive parts involved. Mostly service and labor charges.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

That's odd. It asks for the model number on the form that you fill in to post your problem, and then doesn't display it. Well, here's all the information I can find.
Make: Thomson
Model: 28DG17UG
Type: 413/TX807CS GB
Have the same problem. But I know the problem was caused when entering the service menu. Starting up the tv holding down the text button on your remote. Anyone know how to get back to standard settings?
