Check your sound card if its installed properly. Maybe you forgot to install the driver for it.check it under device manager.

Hi,
By default, the Volume icon is not displayed when you initially install Windows XP on your system.

To enable the display of the Volume icon, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Sounds and Audio Devices.
  3. Click Show volume control on the taskbar.
  4. Click OK.
When you have the new desktop features of Windows XP enabled, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Sounds, click Speech, and then click Audio Devices.
  3. Click Sounds, and then click Audio Devices.
  4. Click Show volume control on the taskbar.
  5. Click OK.

Dear sir/madam, recently I changed from windows 2003 server to windows xp in my system. From that time onwards I am not been able to hear any sound. Therefore, I request you to kindly guide me and help...

OS xp doesnt come with sound drivers. U have to install sound drivers for ur system. see if u have it in ur motherboard cd, or else u have to download.
OS vista & win7 comes with sound drivers already.

My computer can't play no sound I went to sound

Hi,

When did sound work fine on your computer. Try this :-
Open device manager(Start - run - type devmgmt.msc) and expand sound video and game controllers.
Right click all the submenu underneath and choose uninstall.

(Note : All the menus will not give you an option to uninstall, dont worry)
Uninstall those which gives an option followed by restart your PC and see if it works.
If it doesnt, click start - run - type services.msc and look for windows audio service - make sure ot is automatic and started, if not make it.

Let me know the status.Awaiting response.

Thanks.

Need XP audio drivers for dell inspiron 1525

Hi trinadhmusun,

Click here to go to the Dell website to download your driver:

Dell Inspiron 1525

Make sure the operating system is correct (I have it set to Windows Vista 32bit as default, which your unit should be) and download the only driver for audio located on that list. It says it is a STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio, which you'll know if that is correct once you download and attempt to install it.

If you have problems installing the driver itself, let us know. Hope that helps!

Problem with audio sound card

Hi, sounds like 2 things, one the drivers have been uninstalled or faulty sound card. Only way anyone can provide you with the drivers is by opening up the machine and giving us details on the model of sound card. or onboard sound. If you have them please repost and i will get you them.. Regards John

Sound device

The reason for the message will be the fact that windows doesnt recognise that there is a sound device available because the driver for your sound card or onboard sound is not built into XP and therefore you will have to find out what make of audio you have and install the relevant driver.
