Hi Local hardware store and ask for lamp cord wire. 16 or 18AWG/2.
That's cheaper than going to the electronics store. They'll charge you more and it's basically the same.

Original speaker wires lost - can they be replaced with commercial speaker wire, and if so will longer wire lengths work just as well?

I checked my Sharp system and it uses ordinary wire for the speakers. The difference in length won't matter. $20 for replacement wire? They must be kidding.

Want to hook up car stereo and want to see the wiring guide for original system

If you are installing a radio, I recommend purchasing a wiring harness, you can find them at but if you don't have the vehicle side of the harness, you may be able to find the wiring diagram at Hope this helps.

LMy JVC CD player reads PROTECT across the screen even after resetting the cd player it still reads PROTECT, I'm so lost now because I don't have amps or anything attached just regular car...

Try checking your speakers and speaker wires for shorts and/or grounds. Make sure none of your speaker wires have any bare spots. If your speakers and speaker wires are fine, you may have a bad internal output ic inside of the deck.

Hi i'm attempting to replace original audio unit with generic audio system, but unable to get sound from they require a special processor that may be intergrated in the original head...

If you don't have the quick connect wiring harness that you can get pretty much anywhere that the units are sold, get one. Then you have to make sure that your wiring is correct, speaker wires are always labeled by color and then name in a manual.

Can I wire just the speakers without the original dvd/amp to a different amp/system because of the wiring? It has a S-cable type. Thanks

If the main unit had a left and right audio out, yes, but if you want true surround sound, the speakers will have to be wired to the original main unit.

I spliced some extra wire for 3 speakers on a surround sound system. they aren't working but the other two that aint spliced work. what could be the problem?

Bad splice job? Remove your spliced wires and reconnect as original to make sure original wiring is still ok, then start over.

Factory bose speakers wont run on a normal stereo

Im sorry to tell you, but they are telling you the true. Unless you have the factory Radio that comes with those speaker they are useless to you unless your car is the same make as the one that those speaker came out of. Each speaker have four wires coming form them? If they have only two wires on them you can use them in series with other in your home theather system.

Do I need special speaker wires to hook up bose shelf speakers to my bose lifestyle deck? all I have is regular speaker wire at the moment

It comes with special connectors - not necessarily special wire.

You will need the Lifestyle Cables.

From looking at the manual for your surround sound system

It looks like it just uses the regular spring-loaded clips to hold the speaker wire in place. All you need is regular copper braided speaker wire, nothing fancy. Then you strip about half an inch of insulation off the end of the wires, and pull back the spring loaded clip and put the wires in, then release the clip so it clamps down on the bare metal.

Speaker wire you can get from anywhere that sells the actual systems. I know places like Radio Shack (The Source by Circuit City) sells spools of it. Any other electronics store probably sells it too. It's common stuff.
