Question about Gateway GM5664 Desktop PC

I can't record audio.

Trying to record audio streamed from the internet, or even just as I'm listening to a CD doesn't seem to be possible. I'm using whatever the onboard Realtek audio card is. But I can't get ANY sort of "what you hear" recording from any source. Doesn't seem there are any settings (at least that are easily found) to set the recording source etc. My old machine running XP with a soundblaster card had no problems. But this new one with Vista and this Realtec card are a mystery to me. Any thoughts??

Having recording software was not the problem. It turns out in Windows Vista, they *HIDE* the option to record live sound. I found a solution here to un-hide, and activate the hidden line recording source:

Thanks! Hope this helps someone else as well.

To record streaming music, you need a program that's specifically made for that. Here's one link to a company that sells such a product:
http://www.nch.com.au/soundtap/index.html

However, you might want to just search on Google for "record streaming audio". Shop around - there are some freeware products, and some that are shareware or very low priced. I just included the link so you could see what one program offers, but I haven't tried this particular program myself. I've used some freeware ones in the past, but they probably don't work with Disaster, er, I mean Vista.

How to record from tape to cd

It is not possible to record onto a cd as the unit is only fitted with a cd player not a cd recorder.
To record from tape onto minidisc, just press the record button on the main unit whilst listening to a tape.

Sound card won't work with external input

Are you trying to record and listen at the same time? It doesn't usually work that way, the computer has to process and encode the audio signals before they can be listened to. Once you restore the computer, are you able to listen to the recording? If you have onboard sound, rather than a separate sound card, all the audio processing is done by your CPU. If you are trying to listen to the audio as it is being recorded, you are probably overloading the capabilities of the device and its shutting itself down. Try to record without listening. Also make sure you have the latest drivers. If it is onboard audio, check the manufacturer's website for updates. If you know that it is Realtek AC 97 (probably says so your manual), you can download new drivers from the Realtek website.

HI.I was watchinglive streaming but there is a eror sudenly.this eror:rtsp://78.129.143.64/broadcast/pull/81.31.32.47:2030/broadcast/pull/81.19.7.50:3051/stv3.rmvb Can you help me...

Streaming audio/video quality can be affected by connection rate and Internet congestion. Many types of interruptions between your computer, your player, your computer's OS, your local network, your ISP and a streaming server can exist and cause trouble....
When you listen to the live audio/video stream, the sound or video skips, cuts out or buffers if the player doesn't have enough network bandwidth, it will buffer. Try increasing your player's buffering setting. Also:
  • Make sure you are choosing the appropriate bandwidth version of a media stream based on your Internet connection.
  • Make sure you are choosing the appropriate bandwidth settings in an Internet media player or streaming audio/video recorder.
  • Make sure NOT to download applications or files while watching/listening to media streams. Your Internet connection is shared between all open applications including your web-browser, your download manager and your streaming player. Closing applications that use your Internet connection simultaneously with your streaming player may reduce buffering.
  • Close other unnecessary applications that may be open on your computer. Reboot your computer. If you have lots of other programs open, they may be using too much processor time and/or RAM for the player to work properly.
  • Make sure your Internet connection is fast enough to reliably listen to streaming audio and/or watch streaming video online. High speed Internet connection is recommended.
  • Make sure your computer is fast enough. If your computer is old, it might be too slow to play an audio/video stream regardless of what else it's doing.
  • Update your media players and streaming audio/video recorders regularly.
Internet congestion can slow down the delivery of the stream, make it difficult for you to connect or cause buffering. Often the interruption is temporary. Please try to connect a few times at different times of the day, if possible. If you repeatedly have problems connecting, please notify your ISP - there are often quick fixes they can make when they learn about your issue.

Try the above steps you will find a solution to your problem....100% it will work.....

Hi, I just got a new pc HP Media Center M8430F, and I am not able to record stream audio or internet radio

I have an HP with Media Center as well.

Generally you need a software program that specifically records streaming audio and or video. A freeware program I use is OpD2d. Google it and install. Very simple to use.

Want to connect the cd player to a turntable in place of a receiver

Right, so you have a turntable, which I assume was working fine before? It must have been connected to an amplifier or receiver. Keep this connection between your record deck & amp/receiver AS IT IS.

You want to make CDs from your vinyl? The best way to do this is to use the amp/receiver's tape/md/record loop. This "loop" sends the signal you are listening to from the amp to your CD recorder, and also allows you to switch to "tape" to monitor your recording during, or after recording, without deselecting your turntable (which would leave gaps in your recording). I will try to give you some useful information, but it all depends on your equipment & sockets, so if you're still lost after trying this, please let me know the make & model of your amp/receiver so I can check its functionality & give you some more helpful advice.

Your CD recorder has 2 pairs of phono (riaa) sockets, one to receive sound (input) and one to send sound (output) to & from your amp/receiver. You should connect the CD recorder's input (or record in) to the tape out (or record out) on the amp/receiver. And you should connect the CD recorder's output to the amp/receiver's tape in. Set your amp/receiver to phono (or however you usually have it set to listen to your turntable, and you should be set to record. When starting recording, I recommend that you use a CD-RW (a re-writable disc) so you can have a play around & get a good recording level that doesn't distort without wasting any discs.

Some amps/receivers don't have tape/md/record loops, in this case things can be a little more complicated & you might need to add a junction/switching box in order for it to work. I can help you with this too.

So best of luck & let me know how you get on.

Something that seems to come up a lot here & worth pointing out is that your dedicated AUDIO CD recorder will not accept data discs, only audio ones. That will be ones that say 80mins, rather than 700MB. These are a little more expensive but your recordings ought to be more reliable.

Recording streaming audio

You would have to set adobe up to record from the wave device. But I cannot recommend or tell you how to go about this due to the fact streaming audio is 99% of the time copywritten material.
