Question about GE AJCQ08ACB Air Conditioner

2 Answers

Model ASH 06LLs1 Serial # GR29518 2 years old. Was freezinfg up in front grill. Water in pan, so we made it tilt much more so water drains quickly. Befoe it would run, cold air and freeze. Defrost, wait 1-2 hours and then run cold for 1.5 hrs and then freeze up. Now AC not going on at all, no fan or warning? We re-set buttons on cord..no good ? BTW, what is the BTU size of this A/C ?

With all due repect, the question is WHY is the unit NOT powering up? I don't think there is a drain hose and if there is, that is not the problem, as I mentioned that by tilting it slightly more to the outside, the water immediately drained out.

Until the time that we tilted the machine and let the ice melt and the water drain out, the unit was running and cooling each time ntl it "iced up."

Do you work for GE? What is the factory warranty that comes with this unit?

    Thank you.

Hi

The issue with your Air Conditioner can also be due to thermostat failure or due to a blown fuse. The thermostat is connected to the compressor. It won't cool if thermostat is bad.
The usual terminals on thermostat are--

  • G – Fan, usually a green wire
  • R – 24 VAC usually a red wire (Rc an Rh are discussed later)
  • C – 24 VAC Common
  • Y – Compressor, usually a yellow wire
  • W – Heat, usually a white wire
Check the wiring and pins of the thermostat, it is located next to the compressor. In case thermostat is fine then you can suspect that compressor is bad. Usually a compressor has warranty of 5-6 years. However, you cannot repair/replace the compressor, as a license is needed for compressor repairs. I would suggest you to contact GE service for this--

Ge service & support

Hope this helps... If it does please do not forget to accept the solution or post back for assistance.

The Btu size of this AC is 6,000 BTU.The air filter behind the front grille should be checked and cleaned. If the water is getting collected in the pan and not draining automatically then the drain line has to be checked. Also it can be the defrost system problem. As you mentioned that fan is not running at all then fan motor needs to be checked. If it got wet and short caused due to that.If motor checks out ok then the compressor itself can be the other possibility to be checked. The compressor should kick on,if its not starting then it can be short. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation

The factory warranty for this unit is one year.but for compressor is 3 years warranty. If the compressor fails then it can be replaced in under 3 year warranty. But at present this product is stopped being manufactured.Still its parts are available at online sites as well as GE part sites.

    The GE manual mentions this.

    Air conditioner freezing up:-----
Ice blocks the air flow and stops the air conditioner from cooling the room.
On models with control knobs, set the mode control at Fan Only and the fan switch to HI.
On models with touch pads, set the controls at
High Fan or High Cool and set the thermostat to
    a higher temperature.

First the front section needs to be removed. Its fitted by clips. The front panel frame will come out.Few of the clips will get broken while removing,as they are very delicate, you can use thin knife to remove the clip and then make the front section frame loose. Then after that the top metallic body will get removed. Its fitted with few screws, just remove the screws and the top metal body has to be lifted. The internal parts are exposed. Now remove the compressor .Its fitted by few screws and the cables that can be easily unplugged.Remove the compressor out and fit the new compressor in same position. The new compressor wires should be connected and the assembly of parts in reverse.

    Then reconnect power and check.
Note:-- Before removing the compressor plug out wires.Note down its plug connections,so while reconnecting you don't go wrong.
Thanks for keeping updated with your query.

If its still under warranty then get it replaced by the GE service center.Call nearest ge ac dealer or the store from where you have got this.

Just give them the purchase bill and they will send the GE executive to your place and replace the old faulty compressor and fix the new compressor for you.If its under warranty you will not be charged by the GE service center. You can also direct call the ge site at

Maytag RSW22E0 Slight water leak from front,

HI, in most cases, this will be a drain pan issue. The drain pan should be removed and cleaned at least once a year. The drain pan is located at the bottom of the refrigerator behind the front grill. Remove the grill, which snaps into place. Grasp the drain pan while pulling slightly upward and forward.

Clean the pan with warm soapy water or warm water and baking soda.

If the pan rattles when it is replaced, it is too close to the compressor. Simply reposition the tray.

If you have an ice-maker or dispenser, check the water supply hose going into and coming out of the water inlet valve. The hoses may be loose here. replace the line(s) if damage is present, or if tightening the line connector dose not fix the issue.

There is a little water leakage or drainage slowly seeping from the under of the fridge, it has happened before. It streams out for a while and appears to stops when we turn off the ice maker. wj=hat could...

Another cause of outside leaks will be the inlet lines. If you have an ice-maker, check the water supply lines, going into and coming out of the water inlet valve. The hoses may be loose here, thus, causing the leak.

Water is leaking under the refrigerator. This is

If everything else on the refrigerator seems fine (freezing and refrigerating are fine), then you probably have a problem with the drain hose under the evaporator coil. On frost free freezers, there is a heater that comes on periodically to melt off all the frost on the evaporator coil, and that defrosted frost (water) goes out a drain hose and collects in a pan at the back of the unit where it can evaporate.

Either the drain is clogged with ice inside the freezer, (in which case you might notice ice building up on the bottom of the freezer, or perhaps water collecting on the bottom of the refrigerator if your freezer is on top) OR there is something wrong with the pan at the back of the refrigerator, like a crack, or it somehow got tilted so that the water pours out. It is located behind the panel on the back.

Or perhaps, and this would really ****, the water line that supplies your ice maker is leaking, if you have one. If you do have one, I would recommend turning the water line to the fridge off before pulling the fridge out.
