Question about Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS / Digital IXUS 95 IS Digital Camera

1 Answer

I have recently purchased a canon SD 1200 IS. It is not being detected by my computer, neither the camerawindow is opening to allow me access to it. ZoomBrowser EX is also not detecting it. My system is Windows 7 (N). I have also downloaded the most suitable driver from canon's website. It still doesn't work. Please help me solve the problem.

Have you considered NOT connecting the camera to the computer?

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

Having gone over a month without a response, I assume my suggested use of a card reader solved the problem.

I have had the same problem, and been unable to get my XP Pro system to recognise the IXUS 95, although i have no problem with my other IXUS models.
I can however open the camera file by using the "Microsoft Scanner

You do not have to connect the camera to your computer! As long as your camera uses of the following: MultiMediaCard, SD Memory Card, SDXC Memory Card, SDHC Memory Card, MultiMediaCardplus. you can insert the card into the computer's usb port and you are done! About the crashes, what is the operating system do you use? I like to know in order to help you more.

Not acquiring pictures with any software

don't think it was the cable, they are a standard usb interface cable.
Had a similar problem, when I installed software for a new camera interface.
you can manually open the cannon software once the camera is hooked up to your computer. Its called "camera window" default install is start>all programs>cannon utilities>camerawindow>poweshot>camerawindow
