Ibm thinkpad x40 keyboard problem numbers locked

okay i changed the keyboard the manual was great
i can't get the keyboard unlocked from the numbers showing up its the right side of the keyboard where numbers are below the letters

GuruThe numeric lock function is on. To disable it, press and hold Shift; then press NumLk.
