Buttons on the case are NOT working. Those buttons produce same result as remote buttons. Fault is NOT with the remote. Have another universal remote which yields same result. Channel display on screen blinks off momentarily then back on and channel (up or down) does not change.

  • rbattias Sep 03, 2010

Can you provide me with the operators manual for this model? I have been using on screen set up in the menu option and cannot get the channel changing function to work.

  • rbattias Sep 03, 2010

Why do you keep sending the same unuseable information insisting my remote is the problem when I have told you I have a new universal remote which produces the same effect. I will say again, the channel control buttons on the tv case also will NOT change channels.
DO NOT BILL MY CREDIT CARD IF THIS IS THE ONLY INFORMATION YOU CAN GIVE TO FIX THE PROBLEM!!!

  • rbattias Sep 03, 2010

DO NOT bill my credit card because your service has NOT helped me in the slightest, to resolve the problem. All the info you have transmitted is useless.

  • rbattias Sep 03, 2010

None of the information you've given me is helpful. I already stated that my remote performs all other functions (except up/down channel selection) so why in the world would I want to acquire another remote to do the same. Furthermore, I have since FIXED the problem ON MY OWN by unplugging the TV for 5 minutes, then plugging back in and reprogramming the TV through the on screen set up menu. This restored ALL the functions to my remote. If you are experts, why didn't you suggest that. I don't feel I should have to pay for a service that gave me no assistance at all, but actually lead me in the wrong direction with misinformation.

I think the contacts are damaged for the channel up/down buttons. In the past, when I've cleaned a remote it didn't help. If you are willing to type in the channel number, keep the remote until additional buttons fail. Otherwise look into a replacement remote. A programmable remote will allow you to set all of the functions. http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=gmi&uuid=12835509994600&smodel=PS36610YX1&brand_pn=PROSCAN_PS36610YX1 has a substitute remote that will run the TV functions only.

Other substitute remotes (universal remotes) may not handle all of the functions of the TV.

I hope this helps.

Unfortunately your additional comments do not show up until either you add a comment and I receive the e-mail, I check the message from my profile or decline to continue with trouble-shooting.

Let me see if I understand the problem - multiple remotes and the buttons on the TV do not do channel up or down. However, the typing of a channel number works. This happened during a move.

In this case, I would suspect that you have somehow hidden the channels. On my TV, there is an option in the Setup Menu to skip channels unless I directly type them in. I find this in the Channel submenu. Try the TV/Cable setup area. (I found one reference to your TV manual; that site wanted $9.50 to download it. http://www.manualzone.com/service-manual...)

    I hope this helps.

(For my TV it's Menu > Channel > down three to Show/Hide, Enter; I'm sure your TV is different.)

On an older large TV (I've forgotten the manufacturer), the show/hide feature was only accessible from the front panel of the TV. You typed in the channel number on the remote and then pressed the Show button. This was difficult for the owner - older eyes couldn't read the text to tell which button was the Show button. A flashlight and magnifying glass helped. (I notice that the Proscan is an older model so this may be an item to check).

    I hope this helps.

(on a portable Emerson TV, the show/hide feature was only on the remote and that was the first set of buttons that failed on that remote. A low end universal remote didn't duplicate the feature.)

Unfortunately, your initial question did not provide enough details. All of the experts are limited to seeing your initial post until after we attempt to solve the problem. I'm glad that you were able to regain the use of your remote by rescanning the channels.

I'm assuming that the buttons on the case are working - in that case the fault is in the remote - the button pads have worn out or are out of place. You should try fixing it: open the remote (a screw and some clips on the periphery) take the rubber pad off and clean it thoroughly ; then wipe very carefully the board of the remote - use alcohol for that; wait for everything to be fully dried and reassemble the remote. If after that the buttons still don't work then you need a new one.

In that case the control processor from the mainboard is faulty - you will gonna have to replace the entire motherboard and i don't think that this tv is worth so much money , around $250. Use the tv as is for as long it will still hold on then buy a new one.

  • Azrael SRL Sep 03, 2010

You can't change it because the processor is faulty. As i said use the tv as is until you can replace it.

Need help to program my new T.V. to my remote

hold down code until it stays lit, then press tv then keep hitting channel up or channel down (either one can be used, keep pressing channel button til tv changes channels when it does press enter, or ok if enter is not there, it may take awhile maybe a few channel pushes up to 200 and up times, you use this method when you don't know the code for your tv. Hope this helps.

I have an universal Philips Magnavox remote don't know the model # but I just need to know how to search for the codes. I can't remember how.

These are generic code search instructions for Phillips/Magnavox
Programing with Code Search

1. Manually turn on (TV,VCR,etc.) to be controlled.
2. Press and hold Code Search button until red indicator stays on.
Release the Code Search button.
3. Press and release the desired mode button (TV, VCR, etc.).
The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
4. Press the Channel Up button repeatedly ( up to 300 times )
until the device to be controlled changes channel.
The red indicator blinks, then stays lit. If you accidentally
overshoot the code required, press the Channel Down button to
backtrack through the library until the device changes channel.
Pressing Channel Up changes direction to forward again.
Press and release the Mute button to install the code.
If the device you are installing does not have a Channel Up button
use Play(VCR only) or Power, on all other devices.

Hello I have a philips universal remote, don't know what model it is I thought all Universal remotes was one Model. Last night I tried using it for my TV to swich from TV to DVD and it just stopped...

Great News!! We can program most Philips Universal Remotes with Automatic Code Searh. Here's how it works on most of our remotes.

Programming with Code Search

1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.

2. Press and hold Code Search button until the red indicator stays on. Release the Code Search button.

3. Press and release the desired mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blink, then stays lit.

4. Press the Channel Up button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the device could be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks, then stays lit. If you accidentally overshoot the code required, press the Channel Down button to backtrack through the library until the device changes channel. Pressing Channel Up changes direction to forward again. Press and release the Mute button to install the code.

The above assumes that you want to store the VCR you want under the VCR but, Cable codes under the CBL, etc

Note: if the device does not have a chat channel at a button, you should Play (VCR only) or Power instead.

Here is a Code List on PDF that shoud be universal for most remotes. It worked for me.

Hope this helps you out, good luck.

Regarding the one for all remote

Hello mommy,
If you purchased the One-for-All universal remote (model URC4220) the remote code for a Proscan TV is either 0047 or 0747. The instruction booklet also has a section called ''Troubleshooting", which gives specific instructions on how to correct the problems you are having with volume and channel selection.
If you did not purchase the remote control listed above, please tell me the brand name and model number of your remote. I also need to know if it is a universal remote or not.
Hope this info helps you out. Please take a moment, whenever possible, to rate this solution, by using the rating system below.
Thanks.

Universal Remote control code on Sharp 13H-M60

http://www.remotecodelist.com/remotes/magnavox/Philips-Magnavox_PM525S.pdf
This is the user's manual for a Phillips remote control. There is a list of codes in it. They should be rather universal. There's also instructions as to how to program it. I believe that there is a way to program it without using the codes.

Hope this helps :)
