Which password? Are you trying to connect to the wireless network. Make sure that you have the correct network password. Open the setup page of the wireless router and check the wireless network key WEP WPA.
If you are trying to open the setup page of the router then try default password admin.

Find ssid number for linksys model wrt54g

SID broadcast allows computers to quickly locate a new network and connect to it. In wireless home networks computers often use only the home network, which makes SSID broadcast unnecessary. Disabling SSID broadcast adds a bit of security to your wireless network, because computers won't be able to see your network's SSID.
Log into the router.
  1. Open your webbrowser and type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar. This is the default IP address of the browser.
  2. Type your login info in the login screen. Default: 'admin' (without quotes) in both fields.
  3. Go to Wireless > Basic Wireless Settings 'wireless
  4. Set SSID broadcast to 'disable'.
  5. Click Save Settings.
On the next page you will set a router password to prevent unwanted visitors from accessing your router setup.

What is the wep key for a linksys wrt54g

If this is the first time you are trying to use the wireless network of your linksys and you haven't change the settings of your wireless network, then you will be able to find the default WEP key at the back of the linksys router, just flip it and you will see a sticker there. Make sure to get the correct format because it is case sensitive. If you had set it up before then you need to connect the router directly to your pc using an ethernet cable and open browser. Type 192.168.1.1 and use admin for username and password. Click the wireless tab on the upper part of the screen and select wireless security. From there, you will be able to see the set WEP key. You can edit it from there as well.

I am trying to get the WEP # for my Linksys router. I type in 192.168.1.1 but no login screen comes up. Help

You've got it backwards.
If you don't have the WEP key, then you can authenticate or associate your computer with the access point in the router.
If you can't do that, then you don't have a network connection to use to be able to connect to http://192.168.1.1
If you don't know the WEP key, you'll have to do a factory reset on the router. This will disable the WEP security so that you can authenticate and associate your computer to it. Only then will you be able to access http://192.168.1.1

Connecting a brother hl2170 wirless printer to a linksys wrt54g

Take note all the wireless settings of the router first. Now go to the printer and Press Menu/Settings, look for wireless setup wizard. It should find the network, highlight it and connect. If it asks you for the network key, type your wireless network key. It only allows WPA-Personal(TKIP) and WEP. If you have WPA2 or AES, it will not connect

Linksys WRT54G2 connects wired but won't connect wirelessly

I don't think it's a problem with the ip address of the modem or the router since you got internet connection on LAN. I suggest that you try the basic wireless setup without any security etc and see if you can connect. If you can, then maybe it's the WEP setting that is causing the problem. The other problem could be the configuration of the firewall on the computer. You can disable all firewall on the computer and try to connect.

Can't connect to Linksys WRT54G when security is enabled

ccmfaniam:
Please make sure that the type of the security on the router should match on the computer as well. Also make sure the SSID on your router is the same in as your computer.
If this does not work, make another profile onto your computer, or simply click on the wireless icon and it should ask you for the security pass, put in the pass and you should be in.
At the moment I would strongly recommend to make another profile on your laptop, right click on the wireless icon, properties, wireless networks, make sure that the use windows to configure is checked and under prefered networks add the profile of the existing router with same SSID and security you are trying to use.
Let me know!

Wep code

WEP code is a password configured into both your network router / access point and network adapter. It is intended to prevent others that do not know the password from using your wireless connection. It also encrypts your wireless to limit what someone can intercept when monitoring your wireless communications. Use your User Guides for the router and wireless adapter to determine how to disable the wep features. They are relatively easy to find in you follow the respective user guides in most cases.
