What should I put on the bottom of my birds cage?

Many people like to use newspaper; which I don't understand because it creates such a mess. I found a great product from Doctors Foster & Smith that I love. They are cage liners. These products are great because not only do they help make clean up a lot easier, but they help indicate whether my birds are possible sick since I can see their droppings on the white surface. Here is a link to the product I use. They are available in several pre-cut sizes that should fit any cage.

Can you put a bigger Hp and a smalll plully onit

There are quite a few variations of motor and pulley combinations. You can change the motor and pulley based on your needs, however do not over-clock the recommended rpm or the pump. Check the specifications of the pump to determine the max rpm . Usually the pulley on the motor will depend on the rpm of the motor. Check the rpm of the present motor to determing the rpm of the pump with current set-up, and compare to the motor you are considering. Motor rpm vary from around 850 to 3450 so pulley size is quite important. Good holidays

One dealer for your model compressor is Northern. They are very good at replacement parts. If you do not have 3 phase power, you could shop around for 5 to 7 hp 220 v motor making sure that the motor mount will align with your plate. Pully size depends on dia. of pulley on the pump. Most pumps turn between 550 min to 1100 rpm depending on the power available and cfm requirements. Most motors turn at 1725 rpm so for example if your compressor has a 14 in. pulley then you motor will need a 5 in. pulley to turn it about 620 rpm. The larger the pulley at the motor the higher cfm produced but more amps used. Motor speed x pulley dia. divided by compressor pulley dia. To obtain more efficiency and highest cfm you will need 3 phase. Good place to see motors and two piece pulley combnations is Good luck

How can i get more cfm out of a saylor beall 703 pump. The 705 look exactly the same to me but put out 3 times the cfm. I am guessing it is the same pump just bored out or maybe stroked with a bigger motor...

The 703 has bore sizes of 3 1/2 and 1 7/8 inch with a 3 1/2 inch stroke, the 705 has bore sizes of 4 1/2 and 2 1/8 inch and stroke of 3 1/2 inches. I am also sending you a link to the cut sheets for each pump. How they determine that a 705 is used for 3 H.P. is to turn the pump at 540 rpm and at 5 H.P. it is turning at 845 rpm. this all depends on motor rpm and motor pulley diameter to get the correct ratio of rpm and horse power at the pump.

You are looking for about 5 H.P. to do that, but what is more important is the r.p.m. of the motor, the size of the pulley,,, and the size of the compressor pulley! most manufactures will spec the pump for certain horse power,,, they go hand in hand,,, for example you cannot take a pump designed for 5 H.P. and hook a 10 H.P. motor and a bigger pulley on it and spin the pump faster to make more air,,, it wont take that high of speed,,, I hope this helps.

Pump runs 3 mins turns off

Sounds like the pump is overheating and tripping the high limit. If it reaches a certain temperature, the motor will shut down to save itself. This is usually from inadequate line voltage or possibly a bad run capacitor or a problem with the windings. This can also be caused by running the wrong size impeller. If you have a one horsepower motor, you can only run a 1hp impeller or smaller, never bigger. So if you've had work done on this pump recently, make sure the impeller is not rated for more than the motor can handle. So, first check for good voltage, then check the capacitors for "bloating" or leakage, and check that the impeller is properly sized. I may have missed something, I write again if I think of any other reasons...

Change the belt on the machine

Usually the easiest way is to put the belt on the smaller pulley first and then start it on the bigger pulley on one side and then turn it onto the bigger pulley by spinning the pulleys to get the belt to direct itself onto the larger pulley little by little. Using a flat-headed screwdriver can help pry the belt on and keep it from falling back off of the larger pulley while turning it to get the belt fully on. If you have any other questions about this, let me know.
