Question about Stanley Electric StaplerNail Gun 214"x712"x712" Gray

Open Question

I have a Stanley Sharpshooter TRE500 that is shooting multiple staples simultaneously. There is a Plus/Minus dial on top that I've dialed to get the best single staple placement. It doesn't lock in place. Can it lock in place? I no longer have the instructions and the one I found on line doesn't address my concern. Help! I'm changing seat covers on a set of dining room chairs before a party this weekend! Thanks!!

SOURCE: I am having problems getting

Hi Rita,

Yes, the + and - adjusts the depth of the staple. You should check the setting periodically as it has a tendency to move as you handle the stapler.
Also, holding the nose of the staple flush and steady on the surface helps to drive them to the proper depth.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up, keeps me working... Thanks,

Handie Andie

Open the chamber and drop the staples upright in to the chamber do not try to load the staples by placing them on the strip that pulls out as you do with most staple guns.

Look at the above picture of the stapler and follow the bottom of it from the left side over to the right side. Right there on the end of it is a small piece of metal that looks bent down, bull this out and set your row of staples on top of the sled you pulled out and then slide it back it. it is ready to staple something.

Why is my Stanley TRE 500 locking up after stapling a short time. What is the + and - on top for? I have lost my manual.

Make sure you are using the right staples for it. This will prevent lockups. You can also try spraying the staple track with a dry silicone lubricant.

The Plus and Minus is to set the strike pressure. Low for cork board, high for oak paneling.

Here is the manual, the TRE550 is close enough.

TRE 500 Staples don't go in deep enough.

Dial controls depth. Set it to "+." Watch out setting isn't accidently changed during use. Tre500 isn't powerful enough for hardwoods, etc.

Go to website and type in tre550 and you will find a copy of a PDF instruction. It is very limited. They also have a tool tips area.
