Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

My Canon PIXMA 640 will not switch on. I've replaced the plug fuse and plugged it into a new socket. Still dead. It's only 3 weeks old. What is likely to be wrong? How can I fix it?

If it is only 3 weeks old it will still be under warranty. Don't try to fix it as you will void the warranty.

Return for repair/replacement.

Burnt fuse or double check that there is power at the socket and at the end of the cord when un-plugged... If there is power try turning on and make sure all doors are closed.

Pixma ip8500 will not power up

unplug everything clear paper, plug back in and see if it resets. Check fuse in the plug! if it's still dead then there's an internal electrical error and you'll
probably find a new printer is cheaper unless the one you have is under guarantee

To Whom It May Concern: I just bought a Canon Pixma Printer and when I tried to turn it on, it would not do anything. I've plugged it in and replugged it in as the directions say, but still nothing....

Its quite rare to get a new machine that is totally dead. Have you tried any other mains sockets in your room? Some plugs just dont like some sockets. I have one in my kitchen. if i push the plug in, nothing, but if i pull it out and just push it in a little way it comes alive?
Anyway, i wonder what your problem was with the other machines. I use Canon and am very happy as are many people, otherwise Canon would have gone bust!!
If it is faulty then the supplier should pay the carriage costs for a replacement or offer you a full refund.

Good luck.

Canon Pixma MP980 printer - cannot turn on after blackout

1 Please check if the power cord is OK. Check the plug as some of the plugs have a safety fuse installed.
2 If the power cord is OK then you have to take it to a service center where they will change the safety fuse installed within the machine.

I have a Canon MP830 and I cannot turn it on when I touch the on off switch nothing happens I have checked all the power sources and they are plugged in; any suggestions?

1. If your MP830 is plugged into a power surge / power strip, power off/on the strip.

2. Plug the MP830 directly into the outlet.

3. Disconnect the power cord and wait 5 minutes before connecting

4. Replace the MP830 printer power cord.

5. Have the MP830 serviced.

Hope this helps.

My canon Pixma MP780 suddenly would not turn on, after 3 years. Checked the cord, changed wall plugs, the lights flashed but then went dead. Help, pleeze

(1) Check the power cord
connection.
(2) Check the connection between
the SPCNT board (JPSU1) and
power supply unit.
(3) Replace the power supply unit.
That's what the service manual says for your problem!

My Canon PIXMA iP4000 will not turn on. Printer was working great until i went to turn it on and there was no power.

Dear Mmally1323,

You said "My Canon PIXMA iP4000 will not turn on. Printer was working great until i went to turn it on and there was no power."

First off make sure that your powre cable is securely plugged into your printer and into the wall. If the printer still doesnt turn on then try to plug it into a different wall socket, as the socket could be 'dead'.
