Only you can answer that. You need to consider the cost of repair versus replacement.

Computer keeps going to a white screen and slow

Hello, This problem is either a power supply or a motherboard. The cheapest way too start is too replace the power supply. If it doesn't fix then isn't worth fixing to replace motherboard.

My HP G72 laptop wont power on, even with a charged battery from another hp, The light wont come on when its plugged in.

Your motherboard has gone bad. The best thing to do is buy a new laptop. You can find a replacement motherboard online but after the cost of the part, shipping, and the pain of removing 100 screws, it just isn't worth it.

My usb ports don't work. I was told the problem is with my motherboard. Is it worth fixing; is there another way to fix it. hp pavilion dv1000

Faith,

It does indeed sound like there is an issue with the motherboard. On a laptop, almost everything is part of the motherboard, so when one part on it goes bad, typically the whole board needs to be replaced. That said, given the age of the laptop, a new purchase would be advised over repair. If neither is a good option for you right now, you could consider adding new USB ports to the laptop via a "PC Card" expansion. An example of this product can be found here:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16839156006&cm_re=pc_card_usb-_-39-156-006-_-Product

It is not difficult to install, and slides into the side of your laptop. There is probably a plastic placeholder there now to keep the slot covered.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Thank you.

When you power on the lights come on then go off and fives seconds later blink again. It continues this way and never powers on

Motherboard issue. Same thing happened to me, I contacted HP support, and they would fix for a significant amount. Took to authorized dealer in my area, who stated that it was not worth fixing. I paid $900 only to last for two years. I would stay away from HP.

Video card failure, in my hp zd8000 laptop, is it worth fixing?

Well just because you get no video boot does in no way mean its the video card in fact its about 90% that it is not the ATI card unless you have a bad motherboard. I would be looking at some of the known issues with the HP laptop blackscreen problems. Utube has a some interesting people getting around and fixing this issue in different ways.

You either have a screen that has gone and needs to be replaced or a cheaper fix and usually a more likely one is that the inverter in the screen has gone out. The inverter is quite cheap, around $34.00. Try it
