While it is still power on, unplug it from the video port of your computer. Can you see anything on the monitor? If so, the problem is with your computer. You need to troubleshoot. First try the monitor on another computer and verify that it's working fine. If it's not, then ask for repair and if it would cost some around $200, I don't recommend, you'll get a bigger and better new monitor for $200.

If you think there's nothing wrong with the printer and is tested ok, then start working with your computer, first try with another monitor and boot up, probably it shouldn't work, if it does, then the cable you were connecting the other monitor must be the faulty.

The best thing you can do with a dead video computer is to re-seat the Rams, Power connectors and Bios battery. First remove the Ram/s and boot again, you'll hear the beeping, means there's no ram installed. After cleaning the ram, again install it/ (if there are multiple rams, install only one), now boot again. same problem, try again with the other ram.
If you see no changes while working with the rams, then it must be the bios or the video card itself. If you have a spare graphics card, try it or if you don't have one, then the only solution is to replace the motherboard.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I am attempting to connect my HP pavilion dv9000 to a HP 2310e monitor, but it doesn't recognize the monitor via the HDMI cable

You must make sure it's configured correctly: make sure the monitor is up and running (not in Sleep) , that the HDMI cable is firmly plugged in (use a new one to be sure), then right click on the desktop, click NVidia Control Panel, under Select a Task expand Display and click Run multiple display wizard . If the monitor isn't picked up then go to Set up multiple displays options and see if the monitor appears in the second setting (Select the displays...) - if it doesn't then click the MY Monitor is not shown in the list option and follow the procedure to force its detection.
If even that fails then the video driver is corrupted, you will have to uninstall it, download the latest one and reinstall it.

Please help.. my monitor has no display and my don't even beep. the LED in the monitor turns back to orange after few seconds. cpu, disk drives and ram are working..

This is one of the serious problem that arises because if you set your monitor with a high resolution with high frequency, then the monitor doesn't display anything as it's frequency is out of the rang or limit of the monitor's actual resolution capacity. Each monitor will have a limit of max frequency that is said to be the Refresh rate (for each and every resolution setting the display is refreshed.) When high resolution is set with high frequency that is not supported by the monitor, it then display a message like "frequency out of range". If you press ESC key within the few seconds of this setting, it will revert back to its initial resolution. But if you continued with the setting of same High resolution with High frequency, the monitor is not going to display anything because its frequency is out of the range. Most of old monitors like CRT's etc doesn't support 1024×768 at a refresh rate greater than 60Hz.

How to hook up speakders?

The monitor does not have output sound since it is only an input device. You will have to hookup the speakers to your device (laptop, computer, gaming console) that you are connecting to the monitor. The speakers in the monitor are ready to receive a signal so that it can amplify it and let you hear it. If you hookup your speakers to the monitor it is the same as if you were trying to hookup two sets of speakers to each other.

I want to hookup my laptop with my 7.1 Onkyo HTR540 home theatre, onkyo has optical input, i am confused how to hookup with my laptop which also has HDMI port but my home theatre does not have HDMI Port

If you have a plasma, or otherwise HDTV display, what you would do is send you information in two different directions.

Connect the video directly to the display. Connect the audio through your home theater, and set both units accordingly.

DVI connection not working

Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages.
Good Luck!
