Visit a local music retailer to purchase a cord. The same places that sell drums and electric guitars will have microphone cables.

How do i connect my hitachi tv to my surround sound system i tried red and whit cables as thats all i can connect to my surround sound system bit it does not work

The red and white RCA cords from the TV 's AUDIO OUTPUT must be connected to the INPUT of the surround system. You can counter check the input of the surround with another input like a DVD/VCR and if this works the TV output must be absent. Check if the connection was given to the OUTPUT and not to the input.
If not there is fault in the preamp output of the TV sound amplifer. You need to use a signal source to confirm. If not the earphone output can be used with a resisitor network for impedance compensation.

If you would like both video and audio to output through the HDMI cord, make sure to go into the PS3's video settings and select HDMI output there, and also go into the audio output settings and select HDMI. This should make the audio come out of the TV's speakers.

If you're using separate speakers, such as a surround sound system, use a different audio output (such as the red and white component cords) and plug those directly into your sound system.

Hello,

Adjust the system's audio output settings. These settings are mainly used when the system is connected to audio devices that support digital audio output, such as AV amplifiers (receivers) for home entertainment systems.
1.
Confirm the formats supported by your audio device.
Settings vary depending on supported formats. For details, refer to the instructions supplied with the audio device.
2.
Select in_soundset.gif (Sound Settings) under in_setting.gif (Settings) in the home menu.
3.
Select [Audio Output Settings].
4.
Select the input connector on the audio device. Channel numbers and audio formats that are supported vary depending on the connector in use.

Select audio output formats.
Select all output formats that are supported by the audio device in use. If [Audio Input Connector / SCART / AV MULTI] is selected in step 4, the screen for selecting audio output formats will not be displayed. If [HDMI] is selected, you can also select to automatically set the audio output format. (In this case, the HDMI device must be turned on.)

Check your settings.
You can go back to the previous screen and revise the settings by pressing the in_left_key.gif button.

Save your settings.
The audio output settings are saved on the system.
Hints
  • [Linear PCM 2 Ch.] audio is set to be output from all output connectors by default. If you change the audio output settings, audio will be output only from the connectors that were set.
  • If you change the audio output settings, the system will no longer be able to output audio from multiple output connectors at the same time. For example, if your system is connected to a TV via an HDMI cable and to an audio device via a digital optical cable and you switch to [Digital Out (Optical)] under [Audio Output Settings], audio will no longer be output from the TV. To output audio from the TV, switch the setting to [HDMI], or select in_setting.gif (Settings) > in_soundset.gif (Sound Settings) > [Audio Multi-Output] and set the option to [On].
  • If you select [Linear PCM 2 Ch. 88.2 kHz] or [Linear PCM 2 Ch. 176.4 kHz] in step 5, sound may be intermittent or may not be emitted from some audio devices.
  • When using an HDMI cable, only [Linear PCM 2 Ch.] audio will be output from PlayStation®2 and PlayStation® format software. To output Dolby Digital or DTS audio, you must connect the PS3™ system and the audio device using a digital optical cable and switch to [Digital Out (Optical)] under [Audio Output Settings].
  • If a device that is not compatible with the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) standard is connected to the system using an HDMI cable, video and/or audio cannot be output from the system.

Hope it helped.

I just replaced the cord running from the sub to the dvd player. now my sub will not turn on

hi,
steps to trouble shoot for sub-woofer detection :
1. please check whether the cord is securely connected at both the ends.
2. check if there is transmission through the cord (there'll be a small static through the cord if there is transmission.)
3. reset the dvd-player to default audio-output and then choose the 5.1 sound system which is the correct setting for the th-c6.
4. also check the settings in the th-c6 whether it is in 5.1 mode(whether it includes the woofer-as it can also simple use the stereo speakers)
5. now check the sound output in all speakers by playing any original home-theatre system enabled dvd.

the system will work perfectly if the cord is in good condition, otherwise please replace the cord again, and this time check it at the store.
cheers

Outgoing noise from USB port on my UA-4FX

probably not the USB cord because the chances of a faulty USB cord are slim, and I think it's the computer or the input/output chord.

Philips home theater system

Recheck that you hooked it up exactly as stated in the quick start guide. If there is no sound when playing DVD, return it immediately or call Philips to get replacement. If you get sound when playing DVD, but from no other sources, then make sure that the end of the cord NOT plugged into the Philips says OUT or OUTPUT - many TV's do not have outputs.

Check the setup menu on your TV. Many models require that you choose between using the internal speakers and using the speaker outputs. Sometimes the TV menu choices are "FIXED" (audio output) or "VARIABLE" (internal speakers).
