Question about HP LaserJet 2840 Printer

1 Answer

My 2840 Printer:\r\nWhen starting the ready like comes on and keeps blinking. The display says Hewlett-packard and there is a fast scrolling under the hewlett packard. I have checked all doors, and everything is shut. I have restarted several times and the printer will cycle as start up and then the light comes on and keeps blinking. I am not hooked up to a computer but can.

I took out the drum and rebooted. Same problem, just the flashing ready light.

Well there might be several things going on. Try to take out the fuser in the back, there are 2 blue locks. Wait a few minutes put it back and turn it on. If that doesn't work try an nvram (its a cold reset) Turn it off and press the ''enter'' and the '' * '' (where the numbers are) while holding down both keys turn it on and keep holding them until you get the message permanent storage init and then release wait to see if it get back to ready. You can also try to take all the supplies if possible if not at least the drum and reboot. Good luck

I did the enter and *, this did not work, it's possible the Drum needs to be replaced. Thanks

before you replace the drum try the last step. Take out the drum and reboot. If the printer says install the drum then it might need to be replace. If the Hewlett Packard >>> is still stuck it could be the formatter (the motherboard of the unit)

If under warranty call HP. The formattor board has failed, this can be a jet direct connection issue, but the jet direct board is internal. If there is a slot in back to add an external jet direct board, try that first.

  • I take it you are refilling the toner cartridge...
  • Switch the printer off.
  • Press and hold the green button on your printer and turn the printer on. You will see that the lights flash for a moment and then turn off. After a few seconds, the attention light will turn on followed by ready light and the green light. Keep pressing the green button. In a few seconds, the attention light and the ready light will turn off.
  • Push the toner rotate button while you continue pressing the green button. As you briefly push the toner button, you will see the light flashing. Release both the toner button and the green button.
  • Repeatedly push the red button (cancel button). Now all the working lights on the printer will turn off.
  • Open and close the lid of HP printer once. The light will start blinking.
  • Press the green button. Your HP toner cartridge chip will be reset.
