Have at home a Samsung Split system AQ24B1QE approx 11 yrs old, leakes water from top, tried cleanig coil and filter still doing the same thing.

Water leak: It's because of non-maintained air conditioner. Clean airfilter, indoor coil, blower wheel and also drain pan. Insulate freon pipelinesproperly and tightly. After that run the a/c. If still water dripping. Checkindoor f.motor speed. If less replace capacitor. If f.m. is o.k, check gaspressure. If less, there will be ice formation over the coil and water drippingwill be there when it melting. If short of gas, check for leak andrectify. Thanks. Helpful?

I have a samsung 1.5 ton split a.c. which was purchased in the year 2008. Till now we never faced any problem with our a.c. but, now we have limited our use of a.c. but still our monthly electricity bill...

the evaportor is frozen up turn off air but leave the fan on to defrost the ice then replace filter if it still freezes then you need some refrigerant AKA freon

Coil and fins start ice up

The fins are dirty. They need to be washed every year or two with an acid based cleaner. They MUST be rinsed completely.

Water leakage from internal unit of split AC

Draim pans do get dirty and partialy block drain pan. If possible take a shop vac and gently **** out the drain line. This will pull the restriction out of the line and help clean drain pan. Rusty

Ice formation in the indoor unit

you need to have the unit checked for the amount of freon in the system this must be done with a gauge set the freon amount is obviously incorrect
also the a-frame evaporator must be sealed in the furnace cabinet

Formation of ice on evaporator element

hi! there,
eventually ice freezing evaporator occured two factor you have
dirty fin evaporator and undercharge system.
1. undercharge can easily detected using clamp
ammeter clamp on one line of evaporator while running
read the amper the compare this to yuor service
manual the rated current of the compressor.

2.if the reading current is below the rared current on
manual or there is tag on the body of unit specified
rated current.your unit need to recharge.

if has the same current no change at all freon is still
good, this only need cleaning of eveporator fin.

clean this by pressurise water to purge out all debris
particle on fin tube of evaporator.

cracking sound usally made by blwer or fan
misalignement or distorted bearing blower .

Why the word ton used for airconditioner.

hi there..

this what i found for you...

The unit ton is used in refrigeration and air conditioning to measure heat absorption. Prior to the introduction of mechanical refrigeration, cooling was accomplished by delivering ice. Installing one ton of refrigeration replaced the daily delivery of one ton of ice.
  • In the United States, a standard ton of refrigeration = 12,000 BTU/h = 200 BTU/min ≈ 3,517 W. It is approximately the power required to cool 1 short ton of water by 1 °F every 10 minutes; or the power required to melt one short ton (2,000 lb) of ice at 0 °C in 24 hours.
  • A ton is also a unit of energy equal to that power for a period of a day, or 24 h × 12,000 BTU/h = 288,000 BTU ≈ 303.9 megajoules.
  • A less common usage is the power required to cool 1 long ton of water by 1 °F every 10 minutes = 13,440 BTU/h ≈ 3,939 W.
All the Best.
