The error IF is related to weak or faulty fan in the ice-maker.In some cases both the main board and ice-maker fan has to be replaced to solve this error. But as you mentioned you select few cycles then you see the error IF,as per that i think its the fan problem.Get the ice-maker fan checked. Its located in the freezer compartment. Take the freezer drawer out, get the back panel off and you will see the fan there. In some cases the fan is very dusty and this causes the problem. So first try cleaning the fan and then re-check,if still the same error showing up then the fan has to be replaced. The Er IF error code indicates that main control board detects that the ice compartment cooling fan is not working. This will cause a lack of cooling in the ice compartment and will normally result in no ice production. This is something that a service technician will usually need to correct. If you are advanced in technical skills, you may be able to correct this problem yourself. It will require the removal of the inside back panel of the freezer compartment. This is not an easy task. I recommend that you review the procedure for this task that is shown in the link below.,srtrbdgbrbrdfdqxgtqsskgwtqkq,vi/stftftsfwxdbgbkkwgwxbwtrqsbqd/1/1303472/5961857/image6886134730836066511img-or.jpg Make sure that you are able to safely perform the tasks described before proceeding with this repair. Unplug the refrigerator to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components. Once you access the ice fan, you may find excessive frost in this area and on the evaporator that could be causing your cooling problem and fan problem. If you defrost this area, you may find that you do not need to replace parts. If you find no excessive frost or the Er IF error code resumes after removing any frost then you will likely need to replace the ice fan (part 5209JA1044A). You can order this part from theSears PartsDirect website. If you checked the fan.And if this is not the fan that you checked then you will need to check the ice compartment fan.
The ice maker may begin producing ice after resolving the problem with the ice compartment fan. This will not likely resolve a problem with the ice and water dispenser. A control board in the dispenser controls the components in this area. I provided the procedures for accessing the dispenser control board in the second link below.,srtrbdgbrbrdfdqxgtqsskgwtqkq,vi/stftftsfwxdbgbkkwgwxbwtrqsbqd/1/1303472/5961857/image6886134730836066511img-or.jpg
If you unplug the refrigerator, you can use these procedures to access and check the wiring on the dispenser components. If you are advanced in technical skills, you can use the wiring diagram shown in the first link to check the circuits.
You can get required parts from

Thanks for using FixYa. Error IF is freezer fan fault. This usually happens when either the rear board has gone bad or the freezer fan itself is bad and needs to be replaced. To check what is causing the error you can start with checking the fan which is located behind the back wall inside the freezer. Also check the rear board as it might not be putting the fridge into defrost long enough and is causing the ice to build up in the freezer and thus stopping the freezer fan from turning and so causing IF error. Leave the fridge unplugged for 24hrs which will melt all the ice then plug it back if still the issue is not resolved and you hear the fan running then it is the rear board that needs to be replaced. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

My Kenmore elite refrigerator has a error code Er FF what does this mean. thank you

Several said unplug to reset "brain" I'd try that first, then the defrost solution. Or possibly a Hair dryer to melt enough of the ice around the stopped fan to allow it to work again.

What is error code ER IF

Well, I don't know what make and model you have, but on an LG, it's an error with the ice maker fan. It might be blocked by ice, so unplug your refrigerator and open the freezer door for a few hours to melt any ice that might be jamming it.
If it still doesn't work after that, or it happens again in a week or so, then you'll need to call an appliance repair company to take a look at it.

Good luck!

What does the message "Er

Error Code "Er FF" indicates a problem with the unit's freezer fan.

The freezer fan controls the temperature in the freezer. The source of this error is most likely ice buildup. As with the Er IF error, allowing the unit to thaw should resolve the issue. This can be caused by frost accumulation on or around the freezer fan. Unplug the unit for 3-4 hours to allow this to melt off. If error code persists, call Customer Service.

Please get back to us if you have further query or else please accept the solution.

Er if code on display

ER means Error code......
The If error message indicates that the fan for the ice maker has failed. The main control board receives a feedback signal from this fan motor for the ice maker. If the feedback signal is abnormal or missing, then the error message will be displayed. The fan motor for the ice maker could be bad. You could also have a bad wiring connection between the motor and the control board. A remote possibility would be that the control board is bad. This is not likely since you noticed the ice melting in your storage bucket.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair this failure.

Control pad reads ER IF

er if means the ice fan is not running. it blows freezing air into the ice maker compartment from the freezer. unplug the refer for 24. these are susceptible to frost or ice forming in the blade of the fan and prevents it from spinning. unplugging it will let it thaw. ice is a big problem with this model.

This is an error code for the icemaker fan motor.
If the control does not see a signal coming back from the fan motor you will get this error code.
Please see the image below from the service manual that explains the ER IF error code.,wkbwtkdqbqkgrkkxgtqsskgwtqkq,vi/ktfgsrbbdxktrrwffdr/1/1303472/5961857/image18067img-or.jpg

The ER IF code indicates a failure of the icing fan.

You may notice slower ice production but the other fans should be okay.

You can select the ultra ice option and see if the fan toggles on.

The fan or the control is bad.
