I've lost (!) the digital channels on a Panasonic DMR EX75 DVD Recorder and Digital tuner. How to set up digital channels.

After working perfectly and receiving the same digital channels as my hdtv tuner, my phillips dvdr3575h/37 seems to have lost the ability to find digital channels. At first the reception would start to degredate and freeze and after having a timer recording recorded nothing but black I decided to rescan for analog and digital. I am on basic cable from comcast. The main cable is split and one incoming goes to the hdtv and the other to the dvdr3575h/37 . I get the analog signal on the dvdr but all digital seem to be lost. once in a while when I switch to digital on the dvdr3575h/37 I receive a frozen picture on my channel 2.1 then nothing. I have disconnected the split cable and hooked up to the main cable before the split and tried rescanning to no good result.

Auto tune will not reset DMR-EX75 which lost signal (not an antenna problem) Panasonic suggest digital tuner is faulty. I s this worth repairing? (always supposing one can find a repairer) Many thanks

Panasonic should be able to supply you with a list of agents who will repair the device. Ask for a quote when you find one, then if there is another repair shop on the list do the same. And take your choice.

Will the Panasonic DMR-E30 DVD Recorder replace my STB to receive the digital free to air stations on my tv?

Only if it has a built in digital tuner, and, if it does, the digital is only SD (standard definition). If not, you would still need the set top box to receive HD (you could connect the box to the DVD recorder (for HD and/or SD) as required if you wish to record channels). Most set top boxes have both SD and HD channels in their tuners, so it would most likely be the next best option if your DVD recorder does not have a built in digital tuner. You can check your DVD recorder's on screen setup menu to see if digital services exist within it. Either way, keep your set top box just in case.

DVD recorder has stopped picking up a signal from the tv.

Double check connections first and try using the factory settings reset, before replacing the card.

Recording and viewing different channels

The EX75 has only one tuner circuit, so you can't watch a different channel from the one you're recording. To do this you will either need a set-top box for Freeview or a Freeview compatible TV.

not unless you have an ATSC tuner built into the VCR. you can get an external tuner but youll have to set up timed recordings off "line in" and have the tuner set to change to the channel when the program comes online. Some remotes can do this, like the old Gemstar.
