Dear 68jph

Right your problem either stems from the menu settings that are incorrect/ silent mode, or your speakers are damaged, the other option is that no sound output is being achieved through any speakers you fit (this is a more serious problem).

Now depending on your type of fault cause, will depend on how technically and electronically minded you will have to be, and also on cost factor (whether it is a finacial interest to spend repairing the unit, or replacing it).

Now firstly, i would check your sound settings in the menu and also turn your volume dial, button/ switch on to full. Although this is plainly obious, it is surprising how many times a simple issue like this is overlooked in favour of a more serious fault, and for no reason at all.

Next up, i would remove the speakers and test the unit on another set of speakers of the same output, if the test speakers work, then the original speakers from your unit MUST BE discarded or overhauled. now discarding them is the easier option because of cost, but you can take them to a place that will recycle them, or post them to the centre in question.

Lastly, if you have a circuit board issue, then this is potentially critical, and the cost and time to repair the unit may often be outweighed by the cost and ease of just condemning the unit and replacing it, now if you do condemn the product, you can always make some money back towards the cost of a new product by putting the faulty device on an online auction.

Now if you do decide to repair this yourself, start by checking and seeing what others have to say about the product, and also look for the service/ repair manuals for this manufactured product.

I wish you best of luck in whatever of these decisions you decide to take, and if you need further advice or assistance, then please do not hesitate to contact me,

best regards

yours sincerely

When using headphones sound only coming out of one ear

Could be a broken wire or faulty plug/socket. Try another pair and if the problem is the same with those, the fault lies with the equipment you are plugged into. If the faulty headphones work fine in another piece of equipment then again the original equipment has a fault. If the original headphones have the same fault in another piece of equipment, then they are faulty. It is all about elimination. Once you find the faulty piece (headphones or equipment), then you can start to try and trace the cause.

I have a jvc surround sound system 5 disc DVD player and my subwoofer won't power on I touch the cord that connects to the DVD player and it just makes a clicking sound the subwoofer model number is s

Looks like you have a faulty connection. First, unscrew the back and check the servo( motor piece you plug into) inside. You'll see the connection not taking place for it to turn it on. Or just the cord leading in isn't making the connection with it.

I am getting sound from the DVD but no picture. I

I've fought with this for a while and finally figured it out. I recall another piece of hardware that would perform some sort of auto reset when it was unplugged so I tried it and it worked! I don't mean just hitting the power button, I mean crawling down on your hands and knees to follow the power cord from the back of the dvd player to the wall/power strip. Unplug it, wait a few seconds and plug it back in. BAM! All fixed.

Unable to open dvd draw, powered off on .can you help Dave

When pressing the button , put your ear against the draw, if you hear a sound that means the motor is working but the belt that operates it has broken off or is slipping, if you hear no sound then the motor is probably broken or the Motor Driver Component on the DVD mainboard has shorted.

I have had a couple of these with the same problem , and in 2 out of the three cases the cure was the same .. Earphone socket fault ?

Ear phone sockets are designed to dissconect the speakers on insertion but with the constant use and pulling they get on a mobile system they sometimes lock open and do not reconnect the speakers you could check that ..
The other one I had was diffrent that one the sound output chip was faulty and had to be replaced as did the speaker output capacitors , one had failed causing the chip to overheat .. hope this helps Regards Vortash
