Usally a little button along the side or front of the laptop, if not it will be the FN key held down and one of the number keys with a wireless icon above the number.

I have a samsung r519 laptop my internet connection went down on saturday the man from bt said my wireless switch had been turned off but i dont no where it is.can you help

This is really easy to solve. On your keyboard, you'll see there's a Function button, labelled Fn (probably in blue) near the left hand ctrl (control) key. Hold this and press the key that has a little blue aerial on it (an inverted triangle with a line running down the centre), which is probably the F9 key at the same time. This should activate your laptop's internal wireless adapter. If you'd like to see the manual, you can download it from [here]. Page 68 has more information about this specific problem.

I am unable to connect to the internet with my Amilo M7405 laptop using Windows XP Home Edn. My Wi FI seems to be switched off. Checking the handbook there is no mention of switching it on that I can...

the amilo series usually have a switch on the f(x) keys ie: f1, f2, f3 etc, so you would need to check which one looks like a wifi signal (usually f1-f5) then click fn (next to ctrl on left bottom of keyboard) and simultaneously on the f(x) key, that should activate the wireless peace, abz

How do i get my netbook to connect to the internet/ what wireless device can I get to make it work

You need to have an active internet connection with a wireless gateway to connect to the "net" wirelessly. You also need to have a wireless device installed in your laptop. The device in your laptop usually has a switch to turn it off and on. This switch maybe on the side of the laptop or may be on one of the keyboard function keys, either way, the wireless support lamp should be on or green for the wireless system to work on the laptop.
If you do not have an active wireless internet connection, you cannot connect to the net although you should be able to connect to a unsecured wireless network which is in range of your laptop ( like in a shopping centre).
If your laptop does not have a wireless device fitted, visit your local computer shop to ask what they have available and at what cost.

2 laptops - one connects to internet - other doesn't.

Theres a little slide on (or flip) switch to turn on your wireless. It can also be slide (or switch) off to turn off. Its usually located in the lower right front and sometimes its on the side depending on the model of your laptop. Theres usually a quick reference guide that comes with the laptop and that will show you where the USB ports are at, serial ports, AC jack, audio jack, CD Rom, and specifically where your wireless switch is located. There will also be a light ( blue or green indicating its on ) so once its on it can pick up wireless router signals, hence allows you internet access.

802.11g Network Adapter Radio Control Switch

It's not a physical switch, and they really should put more thought into the error messages they write. To "flip" the "switch" you hold down your function key and hit F2 (you'll notice a little symbol on the F2 button - that's the "radio switch"). After that, just right click on your wireless connection and choose repair.
