I am not sure which camera you are reffering but when you need to import still pictures you set the mode on the camera right(it should be instructed on the camera panel itself) and connet it via a working USB connecting cable and then the computer would treat you camera and the memory card as a mass storage device. Or if the images are in a memory card, plug it out and connect it through a card reader. You do not need a software for that. HAH it is different in case of a Video file. You would need a Studio Software like Power Director, Pinnicle Studio and so on.

What could be the reason that I can't import pictures from Nikon Coolpix 5400. When i started using a new computer (Windows 7) the problem appeared. I can't import any pictures from camera. There was no...

Hello and welcome to FixYa

The problem is probably related to the internal driver database of windows 7. Your camera probably doesn't have a generic driver to use.

Please go to a electronics store and buy a USB card reader. I bought one last week and it cost $0.5 so its cheap as dirt. Then simply remove the card from your camera , pop it into the reader and the pictures will appear on a drive like a flashdrive in your my computer folder.

This is a much better option than using the camera's cable as it is faster , safer , saves on your camera battery and you don't need to install any software or drivers.

Kind Regards
Andrea

The card reader will most likely also still be compatible with any new camera you buy in future.

Importing Error

The problem is probably the same one i had. After successfully importing videos and pictures from my SD card, Windows 7 started giving me that error. I discovered that it was caused by the fact that I had imported some directly to an external USB hard drive (E:) and had set the default import directory to it (I can't remember if I had done this dileberately, or if W7 remembered it).
Fix: Just before you start the import, click the more options link at the bottom, and change your default folder to the local drive or to an attached external drive, something that exists at the time.
Worked like a charm after that!

Will not download pictures

Hi you need to Import to "My Pictures" Folder if you can see that option. As soon as you plug in the USB plug from your Camera to the Computer it should make a sound and and Import menu should pop up. It will ask what you want to do with the images. You will select Import to my Computer, If it gives you an option to save to "MY PICTURES" Select that option. If not just Import to your Computer and then Later go to "Pictures" in Windows and select RECENTLY CHANGED option. This will pull up the Pictures you JUST PUT ON THE COMPUTER. Hope this helps

Olympus FE-230 - will not import certain video to computer

Make sure your not running the cable through a hub of any kind.
Plug it directly into a usb port on the computer.
Sometimes the hub can limit the bandwidth (speed)
and with video you need all you can get.
I'm assuming here that your computer is new enough to have the
2.0 usb standard.
Best of luck Paul

Canon A460; Downloading pics to computer

I have the exact same camera and all I did to put my photos on the computer was plug my camera into the computer using the USB cable provided. A wizard window should pop up and click on import photos. If that doesn't work, then I'm not sure what to do. I have windows Vista, by the way.

To view the pictures on the computer, try removing the card from the battery compartment and put it in a card reader connected to your computer.
