Question about Thermador Ovens

1 Answer

My Thermador SC301TS oven is not reaching the temperature setpoint selected, for example, when selecting 375, the display does not progress past 250, and actual oven temperature also is not progressing past this temp. Thanks for any assistance. John C

Thank you for the information. If I can get an ohmmeter, can you tell me specifically where to check the oven sensor circuit? Is there any other method to determine which component is at fault? I was hoping to order a part tonight for overnight delivery so that I could work on the oven on Sat 9-4 rather than waiting until after the holiday weekend.

Thank you. I will test and/or try to get a new sensor, and will let you know the outcome.

Hello. I tried replacing the oven temp sensor, but the problem remains: Oven will not reach the temperature setting. Specifically, I set it to 400, and after 45 minutes, the oven reading did not climb above 345, and the internal temp gauge was reading only 300. I do know how to re-calibrate the temp, but I don't think this is the issue. In your earlier reply, you said if not the oven sensor, then it might be the Electronic Range Control --- do you mean the entire touch panel, or do you mean a specific part? Please advise. Thank you.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems that the oven temperature sensor circuit failed. To resolve this issue you’ll have to check the oven temp. sensor circuit if the reading is more then 1100ohms then it should be replaced however, if the rating is fine then it is the Electronic Range Control (ERC) that has gone bad & should be replaced. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

John, Thanks for your reply. Although from what you have described the issue is more likely the oven temp. sensor however, you can test it prior to replacing.

I mean the Electronic Range control not the complete panel.

Temp probe indicator stays on

sounds like your probe connection may be shorted. Can you inspect the probe itself, and perhaps do a test for continuity with an ohm meter? Also, you might be able to disable the probe in the menu settings, and run it on manual, just for a test.

Do you still have the user's manual for this unit?

I will say that is the control board that is not working properly. Have you try to unplugged for phew minutes?, this will reset the current settings. If not, I will star replacing the control board. Good Luck!.

most likely the thermal safety was activated and needs to be reset if not, you have a bad relay board.

I selected "proof" and turned the oven on this

F33 ( upper oven over temperature while cooking ) Check sensor should read 1080 ohms at room temp.

You will need to replace the oven temperature sensor. There is no quick fix for this problem to get you up and running on this Thanksgiving day, sorry. Where are you located and I will see what resources are close to you so you can make the repair?

The LED control panel on my Thermador double oven is out

I solved this. Its a vaccum flourescent display. The voltages that drive it are reducing because the capacitors on the control board deteriorate with temperature. Replace the 3 capacitors and its good as new.mine still working after 2 years...$.20 at radio shack...or have a repair place do it for you...saves $250 for a new board

Amana Convection oven not controlling temp

I have just checked the baking guide in the manual and have found that it may not be us after all. (Maybe this is why they telll us to read the whole manual. Well, I never have) According to the cooking time for Baking, the range is very extensive. For example, an angel cake at 350 could take from 28-50 minutes, buscuits at 375-400 could take 8-16 minutes, layer cakes at 350-375 could take 25-40 minutes, pound cakes at 325-350 could take 45-70 minutes and fresh pies at 400-450 could take 35-60 minutes. Basically, the baking directions on the box means absolutely nothing to use Amana oven owners. We have no choice but to cook our food or baked goods until they are cooked, whenever that may be. :) Linda
