Question about GE Refrigerators

Open Question

I have a GE Profile Artica refrigerator Model PSH23PSRA SV that continually has frost around the opening in the bottom of the ice maker bin. It also forms ice under the chute in the ice dispenser to the point of clogging the ice dispenser. I have to clean out the dispenser every 3 to 4 weeks.

SOURCE: ge profile artica ice dispenser and chute frosing.

This may be because the chute door is not all the way shut when off. If yes the warm moist air is being pulled through the opening and causing this. Sea Breeze

Freezer forming ice stalagtite under ice tray

Sounds like the ice maker is allowing too much water in to the tray. There is an adjustment screw under the front cover of the ice maker. A 1/8 turn at a time counter clockwise will shorten the time the water delivery solenoid is open. It is possible that something foreign is keeping the solenoid valve to stay open too long, so it should be inspected too.

Ice falls to bottom of frig when drawer is opened

If when your ice bin is pulled out it drags ice cubes from top of bin as I understand I would think that the sensor that tells the ice maker is not responding correctly. As I remember your model a PSS26MSRSS Profile/Artica has electronic Ice Makers that I hate and I think most people will agree that anything on a refrigerator electronic is a big mistake. All refrigerators have their problems but the electronic controlled models have so many complaints! Now I also noticed you did not confirm your model number so I need to ask is your model the PSS26MSRSS Profile? This is a lot of writing if I happen to be quoting a different model than yours, Thanks Sea Breeze

My GE profile refrigerator's ice maker is frosting over at the exit point for the ice leaving the ice bin. I have cleaned it repeatedly and have no clue as to the cause.

The flap door that opens to let ice drop out of the door has a bad seal or the plastic mounting arm is cracked or broken, this is allowing moisture to enter and turn to frost. This will continue to happen until the flap door is repaired, and sealing correctly.

My ice dispenser in my GE Artica is clogged. There is frost and ice on the dispenser and at the top of the chute. What is the problem?

The dispensor flap is not closing . Usually the flap solenoid rusts causing non closure . When not closing , warm air is sucked in by the fan , causing frost . Without model number , cant give you the part number you need . Solenoid and plunger is the part name .

GE profile Artica side by side. I am getting a frost build up

Sounds like the dispensor flap is not closing completely , pulling outside air in . Using a flashlight on the outside of the flap , look inside to see if any light is visible . If so , then the ice flap plunger and solenoid will have to be replaced . Also , excessive crushed ice can also cause frosting .
