Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

The TV has gone haywire. I purchased it from Aaron's and the problem started while it was still under warrenty but I was told it could not be fixed because the part they needed had been discontinued. (I believe they referred to the part as a "tube". The problem is that the menu screen goes on and off on it's own, it changes channels on it's own, the volume decreases on it's own, etc... I would hate to just throw out the TV and I cannot afford a new one. Is there anything that can be done? The TV was manufacturer in January 2006 Model # HD52W67 Serial # G022CG0F9 Chassis # ITC222A Please let me know if you need any additional info. Thanks, Rachel

Try to unplug it for a while. You know like an hour. This will rest the TV back in to default. I would take it back if at all possible because if I'm not mistaken that TV will cost you three times what it is worth at Aaron's.

Toshiba tv problems with sound no video

usually means your screen has gone. if its an old brick like the old tvs, then its your tube thats gone.
if you felt confident enough you can open the tv up (if its under warrenty do not touch it and get it fixed by the supplier)
if its an lcd tv, check to see if the backlight comes on when you turn the tv on, to do this, (better in the dark) turn the tv on at night, if the screen lights up but no picture, it could be the motherboard. if it doesnt light up then its for sure your screen.lcd tvs have a history of these faults, replacements though are not cheap. if you can fix it yourself, do so.

I purchased a (LN32B360F) 32" 720p Series 3 High Definition LCD TV [B717Z] , it won't turn off and it's still under warrenty, Can I get a replacement or do I have to get it repaired

As long as you didn't damage it. Its covered by warrenty. Warrenties cover internal malfunctions. But if you break a button or break the screen, your screwed. On a extended warrenty, A they fix it for free ( well exception of the warrenty price if u bought an extended warrenty). or B they replace it if it can't be fixed. If you got the extended warranty you can take it back to the store you bought it from ( the dealer).

If on the one year manufacture warranty
You will haft to contact the manufacture and find the nearest authorised repair place. Then you will probly haft to take it to that location or mail it in. You will haft to pay some money in some way to get it fixed. But not much like est. $20-50.

RCA P46924 46" Rear Projection Home Theatre Gone Haywire

the button cluster in the front may have a bad tack switch(button) or the buttons may have loose connections. you can take the speaker grill off and look yourself...watch for wires..unplug your tv first:) also if you use spray cleaner that may have seeped into the button cluster too...you may be able to get the cluster as a whole from a local tv repair shop and put it in yourself..save labor charges:)

Play station 3 - Sony

Try to connect to a different tv, also is the playstation 3 have any abnormal colors on the console, like the playstation 2 is green when on but I think they change to red if something is wrong. You will need to eliminate the problem at a time, hook the PS2 to tv, if it works fine then connect PS3 again, if doesn't look right, then it is no good.

WOn't turn On

I talked to an Akai certified tech who told me the problem is a bad convergence module. The part alone is $400. Fortunately, I purchased mine from Costco 3 years ago. Costco has a 100% guarantee policy that I was not aware of. I called them asking if I had an extended warrenty and they gave me the full purchase price as a refund ! If any Costco purchasers are experiencing this problem and you purchased the TV prior to March 2007 (when Costco changed their policy), you may be able to take it back and get the full amount you paid for it. I turned around and purchased a new, larger Panasonic for under $150 more. It has a 5 year warrenty.

The Akai service number (to reach a certified repair place) is 1-800-726-4405. The Akai people are very good and can direct you to options. For those near Pittsburgh PA, Contact Rosewood Audio in New Castle 724 654-3023.
