The light sensor rod must be probably jammed due to friction . Do clean the iron rod with a soft cotton cloth. and try again.

Scanned images have lines through them

If the lines are vertical, the glass may need cleaned, or the unit itself may need a good cleaning. Horizontal lines usually mean the machine itself needs a good cleaning as the scanning apparatus is not moving smoothly.

My Epson Perfection 1650 Photo scanner keeps producing scans that have a 3-4 inch bright panel vertically down the middle. The image is visible, but the outer thirds are quite darker than the middle...

Make sure all the scanning settings are correct first then set everything first before you preview image then hit scan.
make sure the size is correct drag the image on the prview screen make ths dotted lines frame your image then scan
remember you tell the machine what to do by setting it, if you dont the machine trys to do thevscan its self. Good luck, have fun

My scanner copies have a vertical yellow streak covering half the page. What can I do to solve the problem ?

Lines or Banding Within the Image

If the scanner is generating lines or banding within the image during preview and/or scan, below is a list of possible solutions.

Horizontal Lines: If the lines run horizontally throughout the image, it is almost definitely interference of some kind. First thing to try is reverse the cable (Astra series only, except for 2400S), trying with and without termination as well. It could also be the SCSI card itself that is causing the interference. Try reseating it in a different slot, away from other cards. Try moving the scanner itself to another location, farther away from computer components such as monitors and CPUs. If none of that works, search for the file ?prescan.dib? on the hard disk and delete it, then try the scan again. If that still doesn?t work, follow the clean uninstall and safe mode install of our software. If these troubleshooting steps do not work, it could be a physical defect within the cable that?s generating extra interference, and the cable should be replaced. If the cable has been replaced already, it may be the UDS-IS11 itself generating the interference from being defective. Replace it.

Vertical Lines: If the lines run vertically throughout the image, it is probably a hardware problem, most likely with the scanner itself. However, follow the cable-reversing instructions above, remove the ?prescan.dib? file, and try the scan again. Often, if they are thin lines they are from dust within the optics. Open the case and blow out the dust with compressed air.

A yellow vertical line on the copy, which now takes half the page.

The scanner is not scanning in photo scan mode and

that's hardware related problem, you need to open the machine and lubricate all moving parts specially in bulb image receiver side.

Vertical lines in image -- appears that belt is stuck

If the same image is scanned repeatedly, it appears like a line. Check if there is paper is moving (in high speed scanners) or the scan module is moving (in Flatbed scanners). If this is normal, all you need is to clean the glass thoroughly.

Hp scanjet G2710 scanner isnt scanning the whole document.the light only moves half way then stops

If you are scanning via software then the software could be looking for a smaller image. Check the preview and adjust the size as necessary.

Negative Scanning Problem Using Epson Scan Software

Make sure the rectangular slots at either end of the film frame are not obstructed or covered in any way. When I attempted to scan color negatives I had the same darkness problem in the scanned image. When I cleared those rectangular slots, everything was fine. I hope this helps.

Canoscan 9950f red line on scan

Try running a calibration. This is done thorugh ScanGear in Advanced mode. Once in Advanced Mode, in the Image Settings section there should be an option for Calibration (you may have to scroll down in this section to see it). After running the calibration, try performing a preview scan with nothing on the scanner glass. If the red line shows up on the preview now, then most likely the scanner needs to be serviced.

Scanner not working

Do you mean to say that while previewing the light moves and you are able to seek the preview, but the light not moving while you give a scan command?

If this is true this is something unusual. May be you have some hardware problem.
