Hi,

Clean the keyboard.

Try to lift the key and check whether it is actually stuck or not.

If the key is stuck just pop the key off with a butter knife or something flat.

Clean the rubber boot with warm water and replace. if that don't work, you need to get a new one.

Some don't have the rubber boot. in that case you can use a que-tip with rubbing alcohol to clean under the key.

You could even try silicon spray as a last resort. last suggestion...I promise.

Good Luck.

This could be a few things:
The simple ones first:
1. fn key is stuck (bang the keyboard lightly on the desk a few times)
2. The wrong driver for the keyboard is loaded (Unistall the keyboard driver, download the lastetest and reinstall with the setup.exe supplied, otherwise windows will just install the old keyboard driver again)

This this does not work, post me the make and model of the keyboard, operating system, as I'm asumming it's windows.
With a little history: i.e. Is this a new install etc..

Depending on the keyboard and computer hot key setup, I believe holding CTRL and pressing the FN key will disable FN lock, if not try ALT and FN.

My compaq presario lcd is working but it has no lights

If by lights, you mean the LED lights located around the exterior of the laptop (like the power light, hard drive light, etc.) then you may have accidentally switched those off.

First you need to locate the 'FN' key. On most laptops it's located on the bottom left of the keyboard, under the 'shift' key.

Next you will need to look for a symbol on the keyboard that would represent the LEDs. It's usually a light bulb, and is almost always located on the 'Fx' keys on the top of your keyboard (F1, F2, F3, etc.).

Once you have located the correct key, you need to hold the 'fn' key that we found earlier, and press the 'Fx' key that corresponds to the LED (or light bulb) button.

For example, on a older model Gateway laptop, I will hold the 'FN' key on the bottom left, and press 'F1'.

If by lights you mean the backlighting for the LCD screen, which would make the LCD screen appear very dim, then you will have to have the screen serviced or replaced.

I hope that helps, and if you have any questions, please let me know.

I DON'T KNOW HOW TO TURN THE VOLUME UP ON MY TOSHiBA LAPTOP.

On your keyboard is a special key with the letters Fn on it. It has a particular color. Also on your keyboard usually on the Page up and Page down keys should be speaker icons in the same color as the Fn keytop. Also nearby the Page Up Page Down key and usualy the end key is a speaker icon with a line through it.

You press and hold the Fn key down and while holding it down press the Page up Page down or the actual keys that have the speakers on them. To mute or unmute you press and hold the Fn key down and while holding it down press the key that has the speaker with the line through it.

That should give you keyboard control over your speakers.

Additionally, if you double click the speaker icon next to the time display you will bring up the controls for all volumes on your laptop. Check to see that wave is not muted and master is nearly all the way up, the wave scale should be one tick short of the top. For CD Audio, you will want to do the same with that volume slider.

Any other questions just use the comment box to ask.

Worldvet

I have just bought my son a laptop,i cant get connected to my live box it says the wireless is on but the light is not on also on the keyboard i have to hold the fn button down to use the letters m j k l u...

Have a look at the F keys at the top of the keypad. The fn key is a toggle key. It changes the mode to something and then back again when you press it. There will be an F key with a picture of a keyboard on it (probably) (Dont press the one with the the picture of a computer on or your screen will go off)
Press fn and the keyboard Fkey together to toggle back to alpha keyboard rather than numeric.
