Question about Iomega (33600) 160 GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive
Try replacing all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive
replace them they are probably old and faulty ?

did you get a master disc for the maxtor hard drive if not you can download the drivers for vista of the net. sounds like it is set on dos or the jump pin is set to master instead on slave or the other way round.
