I have a Dell Latitude d800 laptop and I used to use the wireless internet on it all the time. Recently, I changed the harddrive on it and now when I hit function F2 nothing happens. I don't even get the little radio icon on the bottom of the screen anymore. Can someone help me out?

Cant connect my dell latitude d800 to internet. the wireless says that it is connected, but when i pull up my internet browser, it tells me i am not connected. wtf?

Make sure the router is getting online. You might have to cycle the power (unplug for 30 seconds and plug it back in) on the router.

Dell Latitude D800 fan runs all of the time. This is a fan at the upper left hand corner of the laptop and it runs at a very high speed. Reboots do not help.

It is made to do that so that when you are running programs or games your cpu & graphics do not cook. Make sure you keep the vents free on the side/back of laptop as a partially blocked vent will also cause the fan to revup. Hope this helps.

Dell latitude d800 laptop wireless connecting to internet

first thing to ask you -- if the computer has a wireless card in it, there is going to be a small switch (generally located on the left hand side of the computer (I mean literally the side) that toggles on and off. If you have a wireless card inside the unit, there is the switch (it turns wireless capability off and on). Do you have such a switch?

It may be a windows problem that might go away with a fresh windows installation. As you said it takes very long to start up that might point to a harddrive problem.

you can read about harddrive testing here

Dell latitude d800 laptop

The problem may be the modem has to assign an IP address to your laptop, what you may have to do is plug the laptop into the modem and see if the laptop recognizes the modem with no errors in device manager,

Next turn off the laptop and modem, reboot the laptop then modem for the modem to assign an IP address.
