Question about Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 Flatbed Scanner
Its a friends scanner and they were given it from an other friend. So this is the first time installing it on her PC, but i dont have the manuals or cd with it, so I downloaded the drivers and software. She is using Windows XP on her PC.
The PC recognises the scanner but as soon as i push the scan, the error pops up, and the document doesn't scan.
The ports shouldnt be a problem as its connected directly to the PC in the same port as where the printer was, but i'll swap ports and see what happens.
It could be that the scanner is just old an broken as its been sitting doing nothing for a whille now, but i will try it on aother PC.
If you have any other advise i'd appriciate it.
When you say the error occurs as soon as you press "Scan", is that the button on the scanner, or is it the Scan button inside of Toolbox or ScanGear?
If it is the one on the scanner, try accessing the driver through an application such as Toolbox. If you didn't download that when you got the driver, then go back to the Canon download page and download & install the CanoScan Toolbox. Once that's installed, lauch Toolbox from Start|All Programs|Canon|....look for Toolbox from here. Once you have Toolbox open, click the 'Save' option. Next, check the box that indicates to Use the scanner driver. Click the Scan button at the bottom. This should open ScanGear. Attempt to Preview scan.

Tips for a great answer:
Guide to installing Canon CanoScan LiDE 35, 50 and 60 on Mac OS X 10.8. Mountain Lion:
FIRST PART: DELETING OLD LiDE DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE
HD:/Library/Image Capture/Twain Data Sources
delete the CanoScan CanoScan XXXX.ds file
(Make note of any other files that may be in this folder. If other files are present, move them to the desktop for now. Then place them back after successfully using the scanner.)
delete the 'CanoScan XXXX' folder
delete the folders containing the name CanoScan, or starting with CNQL.
delete the CanoScan Toolbox Application
delete any items named "CanoScan Toolbox"
SECOND PART: MAKING YOUR SCANNER WORK
CanoScan LiDE 50 and LiDE 35 work both with the 35 driver:
CanoScan LiDE 60 driver:
VueScan 9.2 (or later) x32 for Mac OS X
Alternative to VueScan: CanoScan Toolbox. I prefer VueScan.
Try your luck with Version 4 or Version 5.
CanoScan Toolbox 4: cstbosx4934ej4.dmg
CanoScan Toolbox 5: cstbosx5014ej4.dmg
(Alternatively try and install CanoScan Toolbox 4 or 5)
