The red is hot the orange is hot but is meant to go to accessory fuse so it turns off when you turn off the ignition.

How do you install a Maxon radio repeeter. It only has two wires that apear to be a Hot(Red) wire and a Black(ground). Should I just ground it and hook it up to a power suply?

Your correct the red wire is the positive and the black is the negative. You must also make sure to use a power supply with enough current to operate the radio. Usually a 12 volt supply that supplies about 4 to 8 amps should do the trick

I don't know how I copied and pasted so much sorry about that. But my question is I have orange and red wires with fuses and black wire without do I hook both red and orange to hot and black to ground?

it depends on what radio if you have a cobra 18wx style or maxon's, or a radioshack type the red is constant power 12v, orange is a switched 12v.. IE key like a stereo, and black is ground. if you have a 25 or 29 ltd types or exports they only have 2 wires red 12v and black ground. but you do find some power cords that have all three, and the orange on the 25 / exports are not used.

On a Maxon MCB-30 cb radio, there are three wires. Red, Black and Orange. Red and black are the power and ground, but whats the point of the orange wire and what do you connect it to?

Hello stud

The orange wire is for memory retention for the last channel you were on if the red wire loses power as in switched on and off with the car ignition just hook up the orange to a 12 volt source that is on all the time. By the way those are some neat little radios wish I had one.

Have a Maxon CB Model MCB30 that has a resistor that is red hot resistor part number R999 Any idea as to why this is happing and what the value of the resistor is as the color code has burned off and it is...

Hello, This means that the unit is drawing excessive current which is usually an indication of a short circuit within the unit. Now since the resistor is glowing red hot this narrows down the possible causes. I would suspect the RF amplifier stage as the possible cause, more to the point the RF amplification IC or FET is the item that has shorted out. I would also advise checking the audio signal amplifier to. You will need a schematic diagram of the CB, a Multimeter, an antenna dummy load, and a 12V power supply. If you have a background in electronics this task should be doable, if not I would suggest that you take the unit to a qualified technician for servicing. I hope this helps, Thank you, Shuttle83 http://www.electron-age-technologies-llc.com
