New users get 2 Free calls (no credit card required) and instant help on almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, appliances, handyman, and even pets).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

well 2-4 months ago i attached new hardware and got the same responce
took it out all better
2 thing is you need to what the other guy suggested is reinstall th OS/operating system EX/win 98
or your hard drive is broke
or your harddrive needs to be erased then install everything again
please make sure that what ever new stuff you try to add is compatable to the computer
if your going to download something you don't know into the computer you lible to make it crash and make your life worse.

Is this still under warranty? If not then you'll just need to buy another HDD (hard drive device) and connect that one where the old was. Re-install XP or Vista. Conact Gateway or go to the Gateway web site to see what was hardware was supported for your system.
HDD IDE/EIDE or SATA/SATA II
OS XP or Vista
After you find out the info just install the new HDD, and install the OS. I only recommend doing this since you can't even get into the Safe Mode. When everything is back up and running you can also re-attach the old drive to what is called Slave or CS (cable select) this is more automatic process. Then you'll be able to recover any data missing that you need that was on the older drive.

You could try turning the computer off at the switch when this happens. Sometimes it is a very temporary problem. You would need to wait a few minutes then turn it back on and restart your computer.
