Reseat the graphics card and increase the fan speed or remove any overclocks you've done.
also check your PSU is not overloading.

COMPUTER SHUTS OFF

There are several reasons for Auto shutdown of the PC, it can shutdown due to CPU processor overheating, Hardware conflict, SMPS voltage supply issue. what ever may be the reason, if you have knowledge of assembling then you can try below steps
1. Open the cpu cabinet and remove the heatsink then clean it.
2. clean the CPU Fan (use some spray like WD40)
3. Remove the old heat sink paste from the processor and apply heatsink paste and refix all the hardware.
4. check the voltage supply of the SMPS (power supply unit)
otherwise you can call computer hardware engineer and get the problem fixed.

Heatsink power

Is this a laptop or desktop?

Did you apply a fresh coat of Thermal Paste on the CPU and Heatsink? If not, that might be your problem. Remove the heatsink, and remove the cpu from the socket also (remember how it goes back into the socket). Most times the thermal paste has probably dried up or is too thin to keep the unit cool and it's like metal touching metal and shorts out the motherboard when you try to power it on. Apply a fresh coat of Thermal Paste then put it all back together and reboot.

I recently got a new battery for my HP DV7-1245dx and it still powers off randomly. I trust it isn't a battery issue for it seems to only shut off when in actual use. Please help me with any...

Could be due to the system overheating; does it run hot?
Try using it on a hard flat surface to see if it runs better, allowing better airflow around the machine and check the fan is running, you should be able to hear it.
If it's overheating, it will shut down to prevent heat damage. Overheating can be very destructive to pc components. You'll need to open the case to get to the heatsink, fan and vents. Remove the fan and heatsink and clean. Clean all the vents with vac or compressed air. Apply a little thermal paste to the processor and replace the heatsink and fan.

How to overcome overheating issue in my desktop?

Depends on what's overheating. If it's you processor you have to replace the thermal paste between the heat sink and the processor, if it's the ram you need to make sure it has proper ventilation, if it's the hard-drives the same etc. You need to be more specific.

Same thing, A900 overheating

Hi,
The most common overheating problems that occur with laptops is usually due to a build up of dust in the ventilation grills. This is usually determined because the fan is running constantly.
All you have to do is make sure all the air vents, grills and CPU fan blades are completely free of dust.
Also make sure that the heatsink is sat level on the processor itself as an unbalanced heatsink will certainly cause the laptop to overheat.

Turns off after 1-2 mins like it got unpluged dell dimension 2350plus the clip to the heat exchange on top of the cpu broke

it's probably the cpu overheating because of the broken clip. You'll need to buy a new heatsink for the cpu (get some thermal paste at the same time). Take the old one off, clean the compound off the top of the cpu. Put a pea-size blob of thermal paste on the cpu and attach the new heatsink.

Computor shuts down. screen goes to black. turn back on and get siren sound and screen says shut down due to thermal event. hit F4 to resume. had same problem a couple years ago and they replaced fan

try applying new cooling pest between cpu heatsink and cpu. Heat from cpu surface should be quickly transferred to heat sink. Either coolent problem or heatsink doesnot properly fit on cpu. But be carefull, you need an 'EXPERT' to do this, or you end up damaging everything.

My fu@king xbox wont work

it will prob be the cpu overheating. I personally havent pulled one apart but if you can take the heatsink off of the cpu clean all the thermal paste off and add some new paste on there, available at any computer parts store. $5approx. dont go to overboard with it, you dont want it spilling out the sides everywhere.

CPU over emperature

It sounds like you have a couple of potential problems. First it could be the fan is not working due to failure or not being plugged in properly. Second is that you need to put Thermal Paste between the processor and the heatsink. If you have not done this before, I suggest seeking out a friend that has to help out. There is many kinds of thermal paste and not one is universal. Find out the one that the CPU manufacturer recommends.
