Smelly fish can be a bit disastrous to the kitchen and can sometimes put you of cooking completely.
To get rid of the smell might be a bit time consuming but a couple of things could be efficient. First you leave the oven open for about a day then you could get some bananas and pineapples and put then inside the oven for about another day and also put in a block of charcoal. Although you could also try to bake some cake in it. You could try all the above options together. Sorry for the stench.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

My microwave is steaming and my whole house stinks. how do i stop the smell and is my microwave broken or is it alright to use?

I guess the question is, what kind of smell is it? Is it like rotten food? Is it like burned wires? If you are not sure, ask a friend to help you identify the smell. Any burned smell is telling you "Get rid of the machine RIGHT NOW before it catches fire".
Other smells that are not so bad can sometimes be helped with a good "airing out" and the addition of a pile or box of baking soda inside to absorb the smell. Do not turn the machine on with the baking soda inside. Air it out outside or in an area that is not living space.
God bless your efforts.

Unable to eliminate odour from previous cooking despite the fact that I wipe the microwave with a soapy cloth & then with a clean cloth each time to Microwave is used

  1. Fill a plastic bowl with 1 qt. of warm water. Add 2 tbsp. of liquid dish soap and 1/4 cup of chlorine bleach to the water. Thoroughly mix the solution.
  2. Dampen a clean cotton rag in the solution. Wipe all inside surfaces of the microwave with the soapy rag to remove food debris and stains. Scrub stubborn residue with a nylon scrub brush.
  3. Moisten another cotton rag with warm water. Wipe the microwave surfaces with the rag to wash away soap and loose food debris. Thoroughly rinse the inside of the microwave.
  4. Dry the microwave's interior surfaces with paper towels. If odors remain in the microwave, fill a microwave-safe bowl with 1 cup of cool water. Add to the water 2 tbsp. of baking soda, half of a chopped lemon (including pulp and rind) and four whole cloves.
  5. Place a microwave-safe plate on the microwave turntable. Set the bowl on the plate.
  6. Heat the microwave on high for three minutes. Operate the microwave according to the manufacturer's directions. Keep the bowl in the microwave for 15 minutes.7
  7. Remove the bowl from the microwave. Wipe the microwave's interior surfaces with clean paper towels to remove steam moisture.
  8. Leave the microwave door open overnight to completely air out any remaining odors.

    Burnt fish smell in microwave

Mix vinegar and water in a small container, set timer for 60 seconds and start the microwave, when it starts to steam it will bond to the interior, at that point dis-engauge microwave oven, if smell is still present open a small box of baking soda let sit for 24 hours in the oven before use.

    Burnt smell in microwave

Hi Diane, that happened to me last year my daughter burned popcorn in microwave. I washed it out with baking soda and water, hot water. Then rinse it out good and place about a tsp. of baking soda in a small bowel with a little water set timer for 10 seconds on high power, this helps to nuetrilize the air flow and now you can use it with out any burn smell.

How do I get the burned smell from my Whirlpool microwave. All I did was overheat a biscuit. We've tried vinegar, baking soda, Fabreeze and lots of other stuff. Can you please help us? Thank you. ST

Spray the inside with Dow Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom cleaner, let foam, wipe clean, and rinse. Then if the odor persists, mix one part vinegar, two parts water in a bowl, set inside the Microwave and turn on for five minutes.

It is making a bad odor. Still works though!

I would recommend heating up a cup of vinegar in a bowl and letting it sit in the microwave overnight. To get rid of the vinegar smell, scrub the microwave with baking soda. This should work great.

How do I clean the inside of the microwave? It is

DO NOT use SOS pads! They are made of STEEL WOOL and will remove the protective finish inside the oven cavity. Without the protective coating, the microwave can arc internally and ruin the magnetron. Use the green scrub pads you find in the dish detergent section of your local grocery store. They are considered non-abrasive. Use the green scrub pads along with a non-abrasive cleaner such as Soft-Scrub or 409. Wipe clean with a fresh water and dry with a clean cloth.

Have a smell from cleaning solution I used to clean out microwave. Smell is still in microwave

Baking soda is good at absorbing odor. Maybe you could sprinkle a generous amount on the bottom of the microwave and run it on defrost for about 30 minutes. If the odor seems to abate after this, repeat 'til you're happy.
