Question about HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer
This sounds almost like a fusor unit issue. It can be a few other things so what you need to do is sort through a few things and see if we can nail it down.
First on the purple color side when you feel the printed bit is it rough or powdery in any way? Do you see any faded print along that side? If the purple is rough or soft or powdery then the fuser may be weak. This literally melts the plastic toner powder onto the paper and if it is not hot enough the color and texture can change.
If the print is faded down the entire side then you may have a low or unevenly distributed toner problem. You can get these just before they say they are empty. You can take the cartridge out and gently shake side to side to even out the toner powder inside to fix or replace the cart.
Next try printing a sheet with the output set to gray scale. That should force it to only use the black toner. This should confirm that the problem is in the black toner and not a problem with the other colors. I don't know what you are printing so I'm trying to rule out what may be obvious to you but not so obvious in a text description.
Next try printing on ordinary paper. Try normal and gray scale output. If it prints normally then the problem may be the labels. The labels may be affecting the heat but you may see the purple error change as it heats or cools as it prints multiple pages, IE it may print fine the first page then change or print normally after a few pages. I know we switched from avery on ours as the adhesive seemed to melt on long print jobs. You may need to try a different brand of label if it prints fine on normal paper.
If it is a serious hardware issue on these you will get an error code in the display. It is possible but not likely these are the early symptoms of a impending failure (don't worry nothing serious or expensive) but I don't think this is one. I think you have a paper or label in this case compatibility issue. There is nothing wrong with avery, thats what we have always used. However the printer or a batch of labels can be different and cause an issue. We've switched and switched back later with new stock and were fine again.

It seems that the purple cartridge is going to end of life and the purple toner comes out. Replace with an original (or qualified refiler).

The problem could be from the printer driver, it might be malfunctioning, i will advice you uninstall the printer driver and reinstall back after uninstalling, that should fix the problem.
