Hi! Yes it's definitely an amp problem. The main volume control is surely faulty thats why its not performing properly. It's fine on the phono for this is not worn yet. You will need to have the main volume control replaced to resolve the problem. HOpe this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

Most likely it's a problem when trying to connect it to the ipod.

The volume button for the phono can only go as loud as the master volume is set to. In other words the master volume is like a master control that lets nothing go any higher than it, the master, is set to. Because an ipod has very little volume out it needs the master switch to be set pretty high. You should then be able to control the volume with the phono control. Also set the volume on your ipod to it's maximum setting as this will provide a better input signal. However since the ipod is designed to drive earplugs it has very little power out and will never be great on a phono input. It's not a problem with your amp. I find the exact same thing with my 100 watt amp.

Have you selected the phono setting. On many sound systems they automatically select whatever media is being used e.g. CD, Tapes etc but the phono is different. There's usually a button to select it as it can be used for different media types.

It must be a fault with the amplifier so

  • Joe Bannon Sep 07, 2010

Try using a different lead to connect the ipod to the amplifier. If that doesn't solve the problem you can assume that it's not the input that's causing the problem. Check the connection from the amplifier to the speakers. If that's ok it has to be a fault in the amplifier. There's so many possible causes of fault in the amplifier that it wouldn't be possible to identify it without having it here to study. Also if you tried to repair it without knowing what you were doing you could cause more damage. It would be best to bring it to a professional.

If they are marked "phono" then these are dedicated for the use of a turntable and one which will use a magnetic cartridge. You should use ones marked "tuner" or any marked "aux". Even a "tape in" would be better.

C370 faint crackling sound left channel

have you tried looking at your phono leads, turn volume down until it is low enough that you can still hear the music playing, give the phono leads a turn to see if its a loose connection.if not,try the right channel phono in the left channel to see if this fixes your problem.also you could do the same with your speaker leads and see if that solves the issue.maybe a bad connection is the cause?.it may also help to try and move your cd player away from your amplifier.it could also have been overdriven (played too loud for too long) on the night of the party, only you will know if this was the case or not.

How can i connect a Behringer xenyx 802 mixer to a Fisher TAD 9315

What you've done should have worked on the video input. The phono will not sound like you'd want. Have you made sure the mixer is working correctly by trying it plugged into a different amp using the same outputs and cable?

Since you got this from the internet I think the person you bought it from might be messing with you. On the iPod touch it is possible to limit how loud music is played, and a prankster might do this to you. To check if they did this:
  1. On your iPod, go to the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down to "Music."
  3. Choose "Volume Limit"
Here is where you would be able to find out if there is a volume limit on your iPod. If they didn't lock it then you can slide the volume slider all the way to the right, but if they did lock the volume, you have to go to option 2.
Option 2 is to restore it with iTunes. And this will fix just about anything that goes wrong with your iPod.
  1. Plug your iPod into iTunes and sync it.
  2. On the sidebar on the left, click on your iPod and go to the summary tab.
  3. Click on restore and let iTunes do its thing.
  4. After it is restored you should be able to put all of your music back on it and hopefully the iPod will be fixed.
Good luck!

Faint sound slight buzzing

Connect it to the PHONO input of a receiver that has one or get a PHONO preamp and place it between the TT and your electronics.

Phono plays lower in volume than cd and tuner. Sounds ok i guess but is about a quarter to one third lower in volume. Is this normal ? Can I plug phono into cd jacks to check if any better ?

Hello. As per the post before me, if you have a receiver with a Phono input(many receivers don't have one anymore) the output of a phono cartridge is around 30 millivolts, vs 300 millivolts for a CD(10 times the amount) or any other line level device. A Phono preamp, also has RIAA(recording engineering standards)Equalization that provides the proper equalization for a Phono cartridge. As per the other post, yes, it will sound very low, and unnatural sounding. If the input you are plugging the turntable input into, doesn't say Phono, you can purchase an inexpensive Phono preamp made just for this very issue. You can try Radio Shack, or find something of better quality on the Internet.

Dave

Bose Sound Dock remote control - only volume works

My remote worked perfectly until I changed the battery. The original battery was CL 2032 and I replaced it with DL 2032. After replacing the battery, only the volume control works. The off button will only fade the sound while the button is depressed. Release the button, and the volume returns to the original level and the unit remains On.
None of the other buttons work.
If you've found a solution, please post it here.

The simplest solution would be connect the headphone jack on the iPod to the stereo audio inputs (RCA) to your home theater. So you need a cable that is "stereo phono mini jack" on one end (into iPod headphone jack), and then Y-splits into two RCA connectors on the other end (into L and R audio in on the receiver).

The expensive Apple-endorsed Monster-branded version can be found at http://store.apple.com/us/product/TN983LL/A#overview for $30, but you can get the same thing at Radio Shack for $7.
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102974&cp=&sr=1&origkw=phono+jack+rca&kw=phono+jack+rca&parentPage=search

Set the iPod volume to less than ~80% and then control the volume using your receiver. You have to use the iPod menu to select music.
