Question about Whirlpool Dryers
Welcome to FixYa.
Based on the description you`ve provided I suspect a broken belt...or ar least off of the drum. On most Whirlpool dryers if this occurs there is a safety shut-off in the event the belt breaks or comes off, as you alluded to.
If you could provide a model number I could help you further as to what and where to look.
On most Whirlpool machines the switch will be located under the motor belt pulley. It will be the model number which dictates whether it needs to be repaired from the front or back.
I`ll watch for your reply here.
