Question about Toshiba Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hi, i have a Toshiba Satellite L3550. When I boot up the laptop, one it passes the Windows logo, the screen goes black. I can see and move the cursor around, but there is no desktop. It's as if the monitor display is shooting elsewhere, like an LCD projector or monitor. I have access to my Task manager when I press CTL+ALT+DELETE, but there isn't much more that I can do after that. Any suggestions?

My toshiba laptop will now only turn on to a black screen and a white flashing cursor. I cannot put it in safemode. I cannot put it in boot menu. It goes straight to black screen with white cursor.

it sounds as though its not seeing the hard drive. Power up and press delete to get into the bios. The hard drive should be seen in the first or second screen. If its not there then you will need a new one and a new installation of windows.

it looks like windows is corrupt or your hard drive is faulty. if you have a recovery disc try using it to repair wondows. if that doesn't work you might need to do a clean install which means you'll lose your documents. if that still doesn't work it's likely to be your hard drive. even if you run a check disc on your hard drive and it passes that doesn't mean there isn't a fault with it

You need your Vista disk to re-install Vista.

If you don't want to go to the expense, download and install Ubuntu, its a free opterating system and now on version 10.4, its pretty good.

Toshiba Satelite M100 PC notebook wont start up windows XP

This sounds like a memory problem. Download and run memtest 86, it is a small iso file that you create a bootable cd from. Run this for at least one pass.

If the memory passes boot from your xp disk and choose R to get into the repair console. Once there type the following commands

fixboot
fixmbr

then try the install again. Hope this helps

Black screen with flashing cursor

It may be because of your hard disk damage or OS problem. Try to install a fresh copy of XP from a cd. boot from XP cd and install .

Computer won't boot Windows Vista. Screen goes black with cursor arrow.

In this case you have to do the PC restore . you can do that in dell machines by shutting down the machine and when it is coming back on just HOLD DOWN THE CTRL ket and the START HITTING f11 key in this case you will lose the data which you have the on the c drive but this issue will get resolved .

Else you can try to restart in the safe mode with networking and then go to the system restore and then select the bold dates in which you have idea you system was working fine . selct the date and then do the system restore . In this case you will not lose the data but you will lose the updates which you have done after that date .

in both the cases system will work .
