While checking the projection lamp first is one good possibility, I would also ask for more details, like history of problem (such as was it working well before, then all of a sudden stopped), mfr, model & age (may reveal a common problem issue), any symptoms leading up to this failure, etc.

You should check the lamp first.

OK, the set is on if get the menu display and you have sound--either a video circuit problem or a glitch.

Do you get picture via the rear audio and video input jacks? this will rule some things out.

Also if not tried disconnect set, any box used, or a receiver from power for several minutes and power back (possible glitch).

Every few seconds, the screen flashes on and off. The sound is fine, the power goes on and off normaly. I am going nuts trying to watch my TV.

hi..
try ou these following solutions to fix ur problem

Have you done a hard reset of all functions? (Unplug the power cord and let the set rest for 1 full hour; then try again).

In the worst case the drivers for the display or the display itself is defective. if thats the case u should go for a new display.
try checking for picture with dvd or vcr input.

you are getting a picture in some other input or mode you may try again with tv and be able to solve the problem.

if nothing seems to go for u then u can carry on with a purchase of new display..!!

thank u!!!!

Has sound but no picture screen completely black

If the TV is maintaining power but not displaying a picture or an onscreen display, there is a problem with a video board and it tend to be a capacitor problem and nothing to do with a fuse.  A fuse usually completes the internal circuit and if it were blown, you wouldn't have any power at all.  In any case, service is required as even a fuse is not usually serviceable by the owner on these newer TV's.

I have a sony 61HS10 rear projection tv. The small displays work, showing two or more pictures at the same time but when you want to display just one large full screen picture there is sound but no pi

As you told big picture freeze is working ,then there could the problem in the main processors which not to able pick video input signal ...If you would like to attempt a DIY, you will need a service manual to guide you. You can find one here:http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/ which also contains the part number incase you need a new part...

Good luck.....

Picture blur display

If the picture shrinks and expands you can get a repair kit from www.tvrepairkits.com.

If the screen is just foggy looking my guess is the CRT fluid needs to be replaced.

I was tring to remove the concave off my screen and came across a setting where you can make the picture larger or smaller. On the TV, not the remote, press and hold the menu button, press and release the power button, press and release the volume up button and release the menu button. P0 and V0 will be displayed on the screen press the volume up button until the V0 is V76. Press the channel up button until P0 is P11 and press the volume up/down button to make the picture larger/smaller. If you need to center the picture press the channel down button until P11 is P10 and press the volume up/down button to center your picture. I hope this helps

Screen is all shrunken and in one corner...Convergence Problem... i think

I had the same issue. The screen would shrink and then expand over and over. After thrity minutes it would correct itself.
After a few months of doing this it just broke - no sound and no videe but the power light was still on.

I searched these forums but did not find clear instructions or kits on how to fix it. I gave up and called in a repair tech. He fixed my TV in less than 30 minutes.

To help others I documented the fix and created a repair kit and step by step quide on how to fix the problem. You can find it here. http://www.magnavoxhelp.com
